Just in case you get to wondering...
You need to build someplace to store the stuff you mined if you want the character to automatically haul it somewhere. For Copper that's Copper Storage for Iron it's Storage: Ore.
No, I dunno why they borked up the naming conventions. :)
And, to build storage inside a town, you'll have to buy a building. (Click on the building's door and you'll see a price in the lower-lefthand corder description.
You can build one outside a city, but then NPCs and Factions will think you're trying to build a base and they'll start getting pretty aggressive about it...
Copper ore is much more valuable and lighter than Iron Ore. If you get a good copper operation going, you can amass a decent amount of money. You may as well also start making some Circuit Boards to get a character's Science skill up and make some extra cash, too.
