Buying armor and weapons

Does anyone else skip the shoddy grade and go straight to standard or higher? I'm grinding copper right now to outfit more 4 man squad to start leaving town to explore and battle. If I bought shoddy I could leave right now.

I always buy/loot shoddy for guys who might die or be left behind. That way I don't lose much if I have to leave their corpse behind or they get eaten. The armour is worth more than the new member usually. It doesn't gimp them that bad early on, my slave army of 15 with stats lower than 20 could kill skimmers and smaller groups of man hunters or slave hunters. If you feel losing the armour may wreak havoc on your wallet then i'd just buy shoddy.

I will usually use the worst quality weapons I can get away with in the beginning for training purposes. Armor I will upgrade when I can.

i sell anything less than high, theres no point in trying to mix max my chars with low grade stuff.. except a medic.. i like to look at them in stylized costumes anyway instead of all silver min maxed heavy armor. there so grinding toughness, losing limbs, so not everyone needs to be min maxed for me.
