How to enslave:? Also... how to work order?
I am not understanding the slavery one bit...

I found two slaves right outside the gate, just hanging.. I beat them both up and sell them to the slaver.
Find more riffraff, sell them to slaver.
Slaves almost immediately escape so I beat them up and bring them back to the slaver. I get attacked by the city guards.
I capture an enemy paladin and bring him to the slaver. assuming he might be more profitable. I cant sell him but I can sell myself for 1000. I politely decline.
I bring four cannibal slaves to the trader and decide to buy back two as my own slaves. They immediately escape and run into the horizon. Gone.

I don`t understand any of this. How is this supposed to work?!

How do I enslave? Also hoping for a proper work order tutorial video soon. Only video I found had work orders already assigned and did not really get into how. I can not figure out how it works..

As far as work orders, I select the char I want for the job, for example farming, and then I hold shift + right click on the farm. You should see the new farm work order for that char on the bottom right corner of your screen under the day and time. The char should keep the farms watered as well as harvest whenever the crop is ready. I normally assign gathering water from the wells to the farmer as well.

Assign work orders slowly and make sure they are doing the task properly before assigning more.

Oh, if you wish to give your chars job orders such as permanent medic, select the char you wish to give the job to, then hold shift + left click on Medic. That char will now automatically heal injured party members/pets as long as they have first aid kits in their inv.

Setting a job order to Follow/Bodyguard is similar to the above but with a few more steps. For example, char 1 wants to follow char 2. Select char 1 and then hold shift and hold right click on char 2's portrait. You should see a list of options you can do with char 2 such as Trade, Follow, Bodyguard and Pickup. Hover over the option that you want and release right click. You should see the order added to char 1.

I hope my explanation wasn't too confusing. lol

First of all you can not own slaves for a long time or command them.
You can enslave every NPC by selling him to the slaver. But you must follow the rules of the game. So you can only sell not human or npc which are hostile to the HN in rebirth. You muast be a man to sell to them.
For the UC it is more easy - but you can not sell a NPC if he is friendly to the slavers.
If you try to catch a slave which escape by its one the slave is not free. If you catch him you kidnap the slave from his owner. If the guards notice this - they attack you.
If you sell a NPC to a slaver he knows that. If you buy the NPC back he will run away or attack you.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

By Vanilla the dev dint intent for players to have Slaves, and dont intent to implement it but still allow you to buy slaves, most slaves will thank you for getting them out the cage, a few rarity if you have squad room will join you. By this you could capture strong people. sell them off to slavery and buy them out with a small chanse they join you or atleast get the faction reputation. most of the slavery system was intent on getting the player to be the slave but also reward you for helping other slaves once you escaped.

I belive there was a slaver mod allowing you to assign them to work for you but I havent followed it if its up to date and working.

@Serina your answer was very helpful and understandable:). I did try to shift click one of my workers to loot but he did nothing so i was not sure if I was missing something.. Also, how would I manage for example looting only gear from certain factions. Im guessing that is something I will always have to micromanage. I was a bit surprised that he didn`t go to loot the animals tho. Can I set a worker to loot certain items and bring some to the store for selling while other items go to storage? Now its my turn to be sorry for possibly asking some difficult questions:)

@Neorro Ah, I see.. Well I don`t really NEED to have slaves I guess but the game sure indicated to me that I could since I could buy them and view their stats before buying. Also I believe I paid alot more for them then a regular recruit which makes it even stranger.

@kenxing Its strange that the slaver attacked me when I clearly was returning an escaped slave tho.. Also, the slaves I mentioned first was two escaped slaves and those two I managed to sell. I was not their original captor however. Thinking it over in the case of the captured paladin perhaps the slavers dont take soldiers for slaves as they want to be a neutral party in the wars being able to trade across borders. I really wish the trader had some kind of script that explained this to me so I didn`t have to make up my own possible reasons for everything.

they only respond to a shift click on an animal corpse, unfortuantely there is no auto loot an NPC but it might be possible to mod that

yea so you can do this:
Forage Animal
Haul to Storage (shift click on food barrel)
Haul to Storage (shift click on skin barrel)
Operate Machinery (shift click on stool)
this would make him forage all animals in range before storing, and then when nothing to forage he will go sit down.

Haul to Storage
Forage animal
he will return to storage after each animal

Forage Animal (build camp fire)
Haul to Storge (shift click inventory, campfire)
Haul to Storage (barrel)
he will forage animal, cook in fire, then hault to storage, replace campfire with stove if need,

remember that he prioritises jobs in order from top to bottom,.

yea the vanilla scripts arent the best but that can be expected because of a small team, my goal with mods is to keep the player informed by dropping criteria hints in the dialogue itself instead of them just being lost as to wtf the criterias are or even if there are any,,

like not everything is total random, NPCs can react to you based on what your stats are and a lot of other criterias

I agree it would be super helpful if I knew what exactly the npc`s are reacting to. Also preferably knowing for example what you did to get a bounty on you and who has put it there. I currently have a bounty for terrorism for some reason but I`m not entirely sure from who although I have my suspicions. Not sure what exactly got me the bounty tho.

Very much appreciate the tips for work orders. I think I understand how it works. Now all that is left is to make it actually work and work as i intend it to:)
