How do I repair my gate?

My gate is at 0 health right now, I have an engineer sitting on it with a couple building materials in his inventory but the gate is not repairing despite me spamming the repair button. Instead, the gate is just opening and closing every time I click to repair it. What do I do??

they should automatically do it if you have them set to engineer and TMK repairing doesn't require materials

The gate seems to treat right click as open/close/lock despite having the wrench icon. Hold right click and select Repair from the popup menu. That's what works for me.

Yeah but hold shift when you order the repair, that way you set the character as a full time engineer, and they'll automatically run to repair the gate as soon as it starts getting damaged.
