What are the best unique followers in your opinion?

I only know about Beep and i intend to recruit him ASAP, any other legends out there worth travelling the world to acquire?

Miu is fun, bit of a drunk. Free and a skilled farmer 50 and a skilled labourer 30. Shark.

Ruka is nice, story is a bit sad and gives you insight into the Shek culture. Free and a skilled fighter 10ish in combat stats, stats are randomized. Random Shek city.

Griffin Ex-HN soldier with 20ish combat stats, has unique dialog. 9000 cats cost. Not a terrible person like most HN, he understands things are more complex then they appear and is seeking answers.

Not as great as beep but that's a high bar. No one is as talkative as Beep.

Yeah second Miu and Griffin, Ruka's story I've never had trigger for whatever reason. Bard is either funny or annoying. Pia has become a personal fave of mine too, with the way she acts after winning a fight or when she heals someone. And of course if you take Beep you have to take Agnu too.

Crumblejon talks a bit too but I don't really find him enjoyable, except for when he asks for massages, the dirty old codger. Doctor Chung is also a bit hit and miss, with his critiquing of other's healing.

Hobbs, Horse and Hamut are... eh. Hobbs' stories can be funny, I guess. Horse tends to not talk much past his initial bit about treasure hunting. Watching Hamut get fired up about slavers is nice, especially if you are going anti-slaver yourself.

Get Ruka/Rane the Giant/Miu together for example & let the fun begins. Griffin & a skeleton & there will be a chuckle. He has a unique dialogue while travelling with your main in Vain. Just the two of you. Only person never recruited is Harmothoe. Battled her, killed her but never recruit. Even tried an all femmes party just to see if it can be done. No dice. Too bad.

I pretty much always have Pia as a medic, because that is just gold. In fact she's probably my favorite companion overall. Miu is nice too, and she has spider radar which can be handy.

Lumi (sp?) has some nice perks when you are in crab country.

Rane the Giant... i've been looking for her but i can't find her.. i found Ruka in the very first bar in Squin if you approach from the direction of The Hub, but i searched every bar in the SHek Kingdom and no dice; Squin, Admag, The Last Stand... Am i just unlucky or am i missing to look somewhere?

I found Rane in Squin so it just luck on your end I think.

Yeah i know its supposed to be anywhere in teh Shek kingdom, but if i searched everywhere and she ain't there then what? Do the people in the Bars reset from time to time?

Can Rane spawn outside the shek kingdom becuase i've been through the bars multiple times at this point and i concede defeat, she ain't ♥♥♥♥♥♥ there.

I found her in Admag (edit) in my game. But, if you've just been checking the "cities" you may have overlooked "Last Stand." She's probably there as that's her only other listed spawn spot and it is not a city.

checked the last stand too, the bar that is there and the streets around... she isn't here. Is it possbile she isn't spawned at all?

Sometimes it happen like that. Don't know why. Off late my play have found her in Admag together with Ruka. Her scripts work best with Ruka. Chad & Silvershade is another good combo. Especially while going through Vain.

Ruka will always be my favorite because she's a sympathetic character in which she has no place in the world, much like you. And in her story we learn of Shek culture.

There's also beep. If you train him to be a fighter, he goes off his beeping nut with power a few times. Fun guy.

Is it worth having a single character as a dedicated medic?
I usually just have everyone carry a medkit and splint kit. When battles are over, I highlight everyone and hit the Medic button so they all get EXP.
I know having a single person with very high medic skill will improve the quality of splinting.. But I dunno of any other benefits.
