so as they are an arm of the UC i guess it is intentional.. i just hate it and therefore in my main save i cheated using FCS so they are at 100..
I mean, unless I missed something, they should be only concerned in collecting tech, lorewise, instead of taking sides...
essentially i am slaughtering everyone in sight and they try to stop me :-(
given my 11 strong super-soldier squad soon enough they are also dead.. now i keep adjusting the hiver relationship back to neutral because for some reason i don't want to "ally" them the same way i did the Tech Hunters..
I never had issues with the hive caravans, only if I refuse to buy their lantern, but I haven't met one in ages...
It's no biggie, it will eventually be fixed:-)
My favorite broken faction are the Black Dragon Ninjas.
First time I found their tower they were neutral (until the second in command decided to attack us), so we slaughtered them all and took him and Dimak as prisoners for their bounties. We were now hated at -75 relations. They were both near death, I didn't want the pay for my bounties cut in half, so I healed them. Healing them (since they are the leaders) results in an instant +100 relations, we are now liked by the Black Dragon Ninjas. Then I go and turn them in to the Holy Nation, back to -50 relations and being KoS.
If i ever want to go back to neutral or positive relations with them all I have to do is find them (usually along the road somewhere trying to pick the locks on their shackles), beat the snot out of them and heal them back up and all is forgiven, even though I'm the one who nearly killed them and sold them into slavery. Faction relations are fun at times.
I've had the same thing happen with a town taken over by Rebel Swordsman - the kidnapped noble on my shoulders triggered them to fight, even though kidnapping that noble won the Rebels the town, go figure. Tech Hunters in a Machinist shop chose to attack upon seeing the inital kidnapping too.
I wish the Tech Hunters were a truely neutral faction, but they aren't. Going to war with the UC has many consequences.
Since the thread made the early switch to talking about relations and diplomacy, I was giving an example of how its wonky and can be abused. Though it is my fault for not being more direct and to the point.
Edited to add the following:
Tech Hunters are allies with the Machinists (naturally) and Mongrel. Tech Hunters DO follow the UC legal system, which is where the idea of them being allies with the UC come from.
This is also true. In the FCS Tech Hunters are set to anti slavery = true. So kidnapping is a serious crime to them.
As mentioned before, they react to crime - that needs to be fixed right? Like, they react to crimes even done to their enemies which is one of the biggest problems with Kenshi right now.
Which is actually messed up because they are flagged as anti-slaver but will react to freeing slaves as a crime - the UC legal system config is probably not intended. Their faction relations puts them squarely in the independent camp.
Being allied with mongrel makes a little sense because that is up in the area that they are supposed to be deep ranging after tech.
