I recently bought the game so I cannot answer the greenfruit question however if you left click certain buildings, the option to purchase it will appear on the lower left part of your screen if it is not owned by an NPC.
You can repair a destroyed building that you purchased by holding right click on the structure and selecting repair. The character with the building materials will load the materials first before doing the actual repair/construction.
I have dropped items on the ground before and have not experienced the items being looted by bandits or other npcs but as I stated I just bought this game so take my word with a grain of salt.
Excess inventory items can be stored in a storage unit that you can research on a reseach station which should be available on the building menu or when you press 'B' and select tech.
To buy and repair buildings, click on it and check the bottom left are of the screen. If it is available, then you should see a price. Once you buy a bulilding, you can then repair it and decorate it.
You can drop items on the floor and they will not disappear or get stolen as long as someone from your faction is near it. However, once everyone is away, you will find that dropped items disappear when you come back. This is because the game reloads the area but does not reload the dropped items.
Cheers and have fun playing.
