Any faster way to train STR other than hauling heavy loads?
Preferably without mods, I'm training my squad in STR atm and have them all 80-90% encumbered and having them run from city to city, but it goes so slow once you get to 50+ str!

well if you're willing to use mods, you can get a mod to make some training stuff to improve strength and such. The other choice without mod is to have them follow someone else who is doing auto work.

50 is a softcap
why are you need more?

pick up someone and carry them with the heavy load. MA while encumbered is good too.

Yes there is a faster way. Carry even heavier loads and also carry a dead body around at the same time, while having the heaviest weapons equipped in both slots and wearing the heaviest armor you can get and never stop moving. Fill your backpack with iron ore. Your str goes up really fast this way.

fighting with about 25% encumbrance using heavy blunt weapons works good.

You want to have about 70% encumbrance, carry a body, and wield the highest quality heavy weapon you can find like Falling Sun in battle to get the fastest strength gain.
A weapon that weighs 20kg more than your current strength is the optimal weight for this training.

Edge and Meitou grade heavy weapons can weigh more than 60 or 70 (I forget), and you need to have 20 more strength than the weapon to wield it optimally.
So if you want to have a master heavy weapons guy wielding the best heavy weapon, he needs to have like 90 strength.

Few mods help with that.

Training dummies are alright.

Mining now trains strength is also a good one. As it didn't make sense why your miners who mined for over 9000 years with max labor still had spaghetti arms.

Do the same thing except instead of moving from city to city, follow an npc on patrol route within the city then just afk.

Following your farmers also works.

I have a question to the other people. My character carried a unequiped bag full of copper ores and was a carrying one of my squad but when I fought a prisoner that I captured it only have me 1 str gain(I only had 10 str that time) when the fight ended on one of my earlier playthroughs

The tooltip for strength showed that I had 0% xp gain for strength in combat when I checked it after the fight but I noticed people recommending this method and would like to know what I am doing wrong.

Get Trader Wooden Pack, fill it full with iron ore, and carry it around to the tune of 'Eye of the Tiger' or any Rocky soundtrack...and faster than you realize your STR is up!

Hmm. Try the classic importing the game. If not, start a new game with a throwaway character and test to see if you have the same issue with the new char.

I thought you needed double the strenght of the weight of the weapon?

Sorry, but what is a softcap? isnt the cap 100?

The softcap here refers to the limit you can realisticly reach by playing the game. And I'd say it's around 90-95. Reaching 100 strength without mods or stats editing is virtually impossible.

My most amusing, and oddly most effective passive strength training occurred with my guys who work with water while wearing backpacks; IE. Cooks making rice bowls or cooked vegetables, or cooks making drinks. They'll apparently get bugged and just grab an entire water tank's worth of water whenever they need any. So while they're doing their job, they're building up strength with an entire backpack's worth of water. AND I'm making money or having them perform a core function for the outpost while they do it.

(Come to think of it, this might be the result of a modded backpack, but I'm not sure and I'm not really interested in checking)

Why is it impossible without mods? Just because it goes so slow? Or does it really stop going up? And is it true I need double strenght for heavy weapons? I have a plank thats like 32kg so I'd need 64str and dex to wield it properly?
