I just figured out how to build a Guard Post
I don't know you guys already know about this or not, but this is how I build a Guard Post.

In my Guard Post, your guard can:
- Attack anyone who attack your base.
- Can stay in one place.
- Can go to take some food when they hungry, and automatic come back to the Guard Post.

So here is the step by step.

1. You choose the place that you want to build a Guard Post. Then build a Camp Tent right there.
2. Build a small Sitting Box under the Camp Tent.
3. Build a campfire (just for the atmostphere, so it doesn't important)

Then you choose a member in your team who you want they become a Guard, select them, and Shift + Left Click (Or Right Click, I just forgot while writing this) You will see the line on the Job table say "Operation Machine: Sitting box"

In that way, your team member now become a Guard, they will sitting right there, and will fight anything that attack your base. The best part is they can go to take a food by themselves when they hungry and then come back to the sitting box. Just make sure you build a Food Storage so they can go there to take some food when hungry.

Here is my base in the Swamp.

I set 2 guard posts in the left and right of the Gate. 1 more on my farm, so they can stop the Raptor before it reach to my farm and eat all my hemp.

is this safe ? i mean, you playing in the swamp, right ?
arent blood spiders a manace ? they can probably eat a person in half a minute.
you can assign people to turrents on walls and they will only attack enemy and grab food too.

Is that an NPC base that you are using or did you build all that. It kinda looks like an NPC base

I built all of that.

@anaphulacticgod : I have my main team with full stats each so they can easily defeat those red spider, besides that, Shinobi Assassin is pretty strong against Red Spider as well, after I built that base. somehow Shinobi assassin keep coming to buy my stuff and I can recruit them.

By the way, those Red Spider still easily kill my member, so I just try to kill it fast as much as I can . The big problem is power in the Swamp. There is no wind so I have to build a generator running by fuel. Sometime power will go off and thing could be f*** up. So that's why I built a Guard tower and set my range guard up there so it can shoot anything within 70~120m

I use something similar excep for the shift click, I just let whoever's not working guard

Well you dont need to have power, just use non powered structures and turrets.

@Teralitha: It's really dark when the night come in the Swamp. I can say 10 torchs = 1 pub light, so I will stick with the power and torch only for the second priority.

@Queek: I installed a Mod called "useless Backpack" or something like that, basically add 1 backpack without any benefit except it cheap and have a lot of slots. But turned out I found a backpack which + 1000% (or 10000% I don't remember) all stats and as you can see. I think it's some kind like a bug because Red Spider or Bandit still hit me if they surround me.

Nice idea, problem is others will sit there with "sit when idle" toggled on, I tried the guard post mod but that is broke. I just might have to learn how to mod this game to get what I need. Honestly a simple feature for this should have been implemented into the game in the first place. After all they do have guard turret posts.

Ever found a way to make your characters heal in bed once they take damage? The guard post idea is great i can finally keep my gate open and be looking elsewhere, but after a fight they just sit there, even though beds are 5 seconds away.

Yes you can. Just follow these steps below:

1/ You select another member, set them as a Medic (Shift + Click on Medic button)
2/ Then Shift + Click on Rescue.

With these setting, this member will automatically heal anyone who get injure and haul anyone who got unconscious to the bed.

About auto healing in bed, as I know, just build bed and they will automatically run toward to the bed to heal if they suffer the injures. If they aren't run to the bed, then maybe the bed has been using by other member already.

I wish, I built and aesthetic barracks with a dozen bunks that have at least ~4 free round the clock, but they just go to sitting on their box even after taking damage.

I use training dummies. My guards stopped improving through training a long time ago, but at least they’re at the gate to aggro any bandits that try to come in.

In all of my games, characters will only go to bed if they have jobs enabled but no actual job to do.

There is a setting for "Sleeping when injured" (or something along those lines.) Pretty sure it's in the AI menu.
