Man with Dog start; which way best to head towards?
So just got this game and really like the idea of the "Man and his Dog" Start. Only issue I see with it so far is I am lost as to which way to head out in that would lead me to some place to sell off what ever I steal/Scavage up.

I know the idea of a game like this is that there is no real path and goal but I do wish there was at least some 'North Star' or something like that which would help guide you towards important places for new people like me.

Go towards the Border Zone. The Hub. The center of the new world.

So is that.... South from Bast?

Southwest! Though it's not dead center, it's the most iconic central city along with Waystation.

Can just roleplay and make that your current goal.

"Follow the Fist Of The Central Star!"

Yeh well my RP mindset is just getting to ANY place with food water and people to sell too to start off with. I thought since Man with Dog start was considered a 'Normal' Diff start I figured I'd start near some place but I guess not.

Yeah that is the standard start for "Guy with a Dog" lol going to be hard to find anything in Bast. Best to leave that region completely, the main city is in ruins and Bast is mostly a warzone for United and Holy. You should run into farms and other cities just going southwest! Goodluck!

Hi. Man & Dog start best imo to head to World's End. That dog is too slow & useless early on to assist main char. However Bast is good way to loot crappy weapons & stuff for selling to get starter capital. Always I leave the dog alone in town for 37 - 40 days for it to go Elder. That was when the dog was a monster Mountain Dog instead of the crummy average Bone Dog now. Got some UC Outpost there to do so while your human char go to scavange. Been a long while used this start. Wouldn't go to the North. Liable to meet with Rebel Farmers if unlucky. Those guys will loot your dog when you go down thus killing it.

I am new so World's End is which way from Bast where you start at??

Well I plan to keep the dog as long as possible if I can crappy or not, after all whats a man alone during the apocalyps without a trusty dog by his side.

World's end is where you will meet your end.

For all.the flak Holy Nation get, they keep their lands rather bandit free with only lower level hungry bandits. Head southwest you should run into a Holy Nation farm or city where it is a pretty safe starting area.

From Bast head S/W. The city is on top of a Mountain. If you see a ruined farm it is close by. Can use alt. route - from Bast head West till reach Northern Coast. There will encounter Deadcat Fishing Village. From there straight South. You will meet with Flotsam Village & World's End. Downside is sometimes if unlucky will encounter roaming Cannibals. If you do just don't let them see you/run if you can & carry the dog if it will not encumber you. Those 3 above mentioned places are friendlies where you can healed up, stock up on food & get recruitables if you got the cats.

Hope you can keep it alive to reach these places. I never lost mine either. Good luck.

Hmm Okay well this is helping me figure out some what where to go thanks! I have found a couple holy nation farms and outposts no sellers though yet but been safe-ish and able to grab a little food and get a ration pack or 2 from people of the holy nation.

Trying to find any town still or any more land marks to use to get help pointing towards a city.

If nothing else maybe I restart soon and follow rompier02's path to any one those places cause I just am for a goal right now looking for a small place to sell at and some simple way to farm enough cats and stats to hunt animals and trade skin and meat to start with and learn cooking.

Always a seller inside one of the few houses on the holy farms. They buy most stuff and sell food. Should help you get started. You can even do labor for them by tending to their crop and harvesting to sell their crops back to them as payment for your work. Also some holy farms have free beds outside where you can sleep for free as well as free campfires for you to cook meat at. Lastly Holy Patrol comes through pretty often, so it is relatively safe.

This is where I roleplayed for awhile as a wandering laborer. Honest pay for honest work.

Op forgot to add can use the dog as str training by carrying it. Dog's str/dex/tgh/att will increase with age auto. Further if you reach World's End, try to find Burn's Tower in the Floodlands. It's just west of Flotsam Village/World's End. Gotta navigate through some random encounter with Broken Skellies/Iron Bots to get there. Just run & avoid them. The Tower is somewhere north in the Floodlands. Good starter companion with no upkeep for food. Sorry for some spoilers though, just thought you could use some free companions. Hope you & the dog make it allright there without fresh start.
