I have a lot of inedible food that my pack animal can eat, if I stire different foods + this bad food, will the animal prioritize eating this raw rotten meat?

Just be careful. Animals will mow through foul meat at a staggering pace because of how little nutrition it actually provides.

I used to have 2 packbulls and 2 garrus which are useful for early game to carry as many of necessary materials for building outpost. They hogged up so much of foul raw meats forcing me to hunt for beak things quite often. After settling down, I realized I really don't need 4 animals so I dismissed a packbull and a garru leaving me with just 2 animals then I recuited more skeletons. I still used packbull for carry weapons and gears, garru for carrying crafted stuffs like eletronics, leathers, copper alloys, armor plating, etc to sell at towns. I wish animal feeders are stackable tho, so I have to use general storage chest to store extras of foul raw meats.

Can you elaborate what nutrition value is exactly? Higher nutrition means what exactly?

Honestly I opened this threadh because I have like 100+ foul meats and wanted to have old rosty eat them instead of the good stuff for my squad

You can see the nutritional value of food on its info card. It just shows how how effectively it fills you up. Think of it as calories.

Piggy backing off this thread, do Bonedogs eat out of backpacks of squad members like the loading tip says squad mates do or is it just pack animals? I ask because I have to drop it to feed my doggo and haven't been able to test the backpack thing yet.

So higher nutrition is better yes, but how different is it to eat for example 3 items for 10 Nut each versus 2 for 15 each?

Because Im normally buying food based on nutrition per cat basis, cheapest ratio being better

Difference is only space. Higher nut food takes less space since it has more "charges". If you got the space then it matters not if you eat 3 (10nuts) or 2 (15nuts).

So you can continue to eat only dry meat or rice as its the most cost effective. However u will take up more space stuffing your inventory with them.

I keep a cook to carry the team's food for everyone. Id need to fill alot of a backpack with cheap food to ensure no one starves.

If you travel across the map and need say (bs number here) 600 total nut in food, would you rather carry 40 dry meat, or 5ish ration packs, or 22ish cooked veg. Depends on your budget but also on the space you want to allot to food.

I have my aptly named Old Rosty pack animal, he can carry everything I need :)

I really wish the animals would priorize eating foul meat over normal meat.
Currently I'm on my way for hunting some meat for cooking and got a bunch of foul meat for my animals too and my bull just keeps eating my meat instead <_<

In the matter of food, not only is the nutrient / price ratio important, it is also important to know that the more you eat your character at one time, the longer the effect lasts. To explain, if you eat meat and go up 10 hunger points, you will eat again when these points have been subtracted, so if you eat a 50-nutrient food the effect will last 100 points before you have to eat again.
