How do you cook?

How do I a get a stove and other things I need for cooking? Well, also I hired the woman who makes rum... does that require a different setup? Sorry for the basic question; I'm a noob.

Hi, noob. Cooking will have to be reseached at a research bench. You will either need to purchase a house (click on buildings while in a city to see if they are for sale and their price) or build one (click build or press 'B'). You will then need to build a small research bench inside the house or shack and research stuff using the 'TECH' menu. Some things will require books for research or other ancient artifacts like engineering blueprints or ancient science books.

As for your new hire, she saying that she's good at rum brewing just means she's an excellent cook. When you have her selected, press 'C' to check her stats. She should have a high cooking level. Rum brewing can also be researched, but keep in mind, it does require power, water, and lots of cactus. But you don't have to worry about that right away.

For free cooking, you can place a camp fire (Press 'B' and select 'camping') at no cost and roast yourself some dried meat out of raw meat (can be found in most living animals).

Just to add, cooking on a campfire is automatic and does not use any skill, so you cant use it as training. It does not require any research though, but can make only one thing - dried meat, out of fresh meat.
