Good Base Locations?
i've got a fair number of resources and a rather large group (15) consisting of every race obviously holy nation turf is a no go and traders no longer visit if you set up in the howlers maze I can definantly handle cannibal attacks but i'm not seeing much open space in the cannibal plains i've got over 150k cats so money isn't too tight but I'd rather hang on to my wealth until i've got some proper "walking around money" as it were

thoughts?

Gut. The beak things make great guards against raids. Lots of iron and copper. Stone can reach 100. And I believe the fertility is 100 green and 50 arid.

that's correct. south of heng is the gut- it's perfect for a base and beak things provide food, animal skin and valuable eggs. If your smart, you build a wall with a gap, big enouth for human but too small for adult beak things. When traders guild visits you, they get destroyed by beak things (nest multiplier 3) and you can loot their garru. Setting up walls is quiet painful due the 84356633^99 beak things attacking you while building, but worth it. Nearby is a waystation- many trader caravans are crossing by, waiting to be robbed.

how strong are your skeletons? (i use no armor penalty mod) with a single skeleton (p4) at... something like... 60 str 79 dex and 68 toug, 70 attack,65 def. ,65 robotics, 60 heavy weapons with high grade samurai armor +masked helmet, wooden sandals and masterwork samurai legplates, masterwork dark leather shirt, edge 1 falling sun could massacre his way trough the whole gut, without going down once... 160+dmg per hit
Pro tip: focus on max 3 skeleton, attack HN mine gate guards (sentinel) and later the paladins.
The oter ones can fo some labour or so... alternative you could go up north to the HN and UC patrols and help beat down HN. Also steal some samurai armor- the higher the penalty the faster you learn. Compare armor and use the one with highest penalty, that's best for training.

i think the highest I have is 50 but i've got them using katana's and they've got decent dexterity I think around 40 and they've got some decent light armor on them these bots have got their butts kicked a lot a bit of advice take some metal men to cannibal territory and try not to have too much fun

HN has decent loot and some food. Also possible recruits, when you free slaves. Cannibals are... not that good- i would prefer fogmen.

If you want a gigantic, self-sufficient autonamous complex, then Leviathan Plains. Downside is that you're in the boonies, and the critters are nasty until you build walls

Southeast of Squin on the border of the Swamps and the Border Zone is the most peaceful and productive base spot I have found. Centrally located, nearby city of Squin and a waystation, full access to swamp and arid biome, water, wind, iron, and copper, not in any faction territory, and the only enemies around are dust bandits and starvers, with the rare swamp ninja or kral's chosen. I don't build there anymore because it is too easy.

looks promising easy shouldn't be a problem since i like to make sizable excersions into dangerous territories and well steal from powerful people and occasionally knock out and strip said powerful people naked....while laughing

Do you want to make 7 million cats a week? Do you want to have a base that only ever has to deal with trivial canable raids so you can train make weapons and cook food in peace? Heres how go north of GOAT tower west of the rebel farmers base start at the extreme northwest bit of coast where if you download the fishing mod it will be easy as pie to be groaning with food next once you have the basics up and running reserch hydroponic farming and build six hydroponic hemp farms next make two hashish processors you can now sell your hashish in Sol Battol for 1500 cats a peice if you do the same with saki grog and rum you can easily make 7.5 million cats a week best of all no holy nation no shreck and no uc visites and i dont think slavers go there either the rebel farmers are easy to wipe out and you get a nice little bounty for their leader Simon enjoy!

I liked claiming a hill in the fog lands. Gated off the natural paths into my little dip and used the dead to raise my crossbow skills to high levels. Grows rice easy, collects water easy, no tax man, and good training for new recruits. Send them on a mission to return with a prince head.

for me the best base location so far was the eye just east of the dead lands. its low water and food but has nonstop winds, all the resources you need, and its wide open so you can build all the wells and farms you need, so i never noticed a problam with food and water anyway. its basically the middle of the map so thats nice, and i found that most of the raids on my city where stoped by skimmers lurking around on the way to my city. when building all i had to deal with is a bone dog and 2 skimmers. got so big i had to find things to do with all the space wound up making an arena with a beak thing to get rid of raiders.
