How did you config the computer hot keys to your game to make it easier?

I'm curious to know how you guys customize and toggle your hot keys during gameplay. In the beginning it was hard to figure out the best combination. What's yours?

I formatted mine like "The Sims" combined with Prison Architect:
1 = fast speed (ring finger)
2 = faster speed (middle finger)
3 = fastest speed (pointer)
4 = highlight whole team (shift pointer finger to next space)
~ = Inventory (pinky)
Q = Map Screen (ring finger shift down)
SHIFT = toggle next player ( shift pinky down)

The rest is the the same. Thumb ready on pause for attacks, pinky ready to shift up to press escape for game options. I play piano so my hand can be dexterious. My left hand is doing all the pressing without moving my hand space which makes toggling so much easier, I hardly click on tabs anymore, and of course the right hand is holding the mouse.

I didn't think it about either, until later in the game when I noticed that looting and clicking screens became tedious. Especially when you are dividing food rations, dividing loot, putting loot to the one warrior who carries the big backpack. Plus, with all the raids that happen while travelling, quickly slowing down or pausing helps so I can easily redirect my crew. Hot keys are vital!

Heathen, Alt is for crouch/stealth! Alt is a much more accessible key, I have no clue why everyone uses control in every game.

Seriously, first thing I do in every FPS is rebind crouch from control to alt. I blame my big hands, its impossible for me to hit control reliably without my pinky cramping up. Alt meanwhile is right there next to the spacebar, perfect for hitting it with my thumb when needed.



My keybinds for kenshi are pretty close to the defaults.

F1-F4 for speed changes, 1 to 0 for character selection, tab for changing squad, I for inventory, C for the character sheet. Its not an FPS or arpg so I don't need to have everything accessible to my left hand at all times, if I did I'd change inventory to B or V, but thats pretty much it.

I've never had problems using the function keys for shortcuts, and as an old musician I can pretty much play the keyboard like a piano with shortcuts for everything you'd ever need in a MMO with a combination of the shift, alt, tab, function and number keys. Number keys are limited to 1 through 7 in MMOs, anything beyond 7 gets changed to shift+1-7, alt+1-7 or in a few cases even ctrl+1-7 (only rarely used skills though). I can reliably hit 7 without ever having to shift my hand away from the good ol' WASD fps config, though I do use 8 on occasion, I just don't like having to reach for a key in combat so much like anything bound to control, its going to be something I don't use very often.
