Buying vs building vs repairing Homes
I just started this game and im not sure if i should buy a house or build one or repair a destroyed one like in "the Hub". ive done all three but havent gotten far enough to see a noticable diffrence besides when building one you can build anything around it.

Exactly as you have found.

Apart from...
....buying a built house in an NPC town or repairing one is only different in terms of cost.
....having either of the above is MUCH safer early game as you won't be raided, although I've heard that buildings in the Hub can still be raided. Not so likely elsewhere as they are protected by faction guards etc.
....building your own house in the wilderness is VERY likely to have raids, which you need to be able to defend against, plus taxmen, prayer days etc etc depending on where you are.

what about long term then? would it be better to build up the hub purchasing all the building or making my own or town, or buying a house in a devolped town?

Honestly, depends entirely on what you want to do.

Safety? Buy in a town, if you find one that you like with a faction you like. Be advised, don't buy all the buildings you can in every town you can, or else you will have a significant drop in available shops. (They spawn in randomly to a degree, but if you buy all the buildings, they have nowhere to spawn.)

Adventure and DO WHAT YOU WANT? (Once you're tough and have a good party) maybe consider the countryside or deep wilderness. So long as you're in faction land, you will have to abide by the laws and customs of whatever land you've settled in. (That means dealing with Prayer Day if you're in Holy Nation, or paying TERRIBLE taxes if you're in United Cities)

As well as security concerns, including bandit and wildlife raids.

If you're DEEP in the woods, expect cannabals and tougher bandits.

The one thing I will say is, DO NOT just start fighting everyone "For the lulz" It makes trade harder later on, and honestly, with quests and such unfinished, could screw you over on later content.

Forget the Hub. Join the Shinobi for 10,000 cats while your in Hub. You'll then have a bed & training facilities to train in many towns. To difficult to make a living there. Get your athletics up to 15. Head east halfway to the coast line then north. Look for a town called Stoat in the middle of the desert. You can make money there. Have great visablity to loot and stay out of trouble until your ready to take on the world. Buy a house there and get your research going. Make your money on skimmer claws, looting & bounties. I could go on & on about Stoat. You should check it out before deciding on Hub. Take your time & explore.See what other places have to offer. In the mean time, stay at a Shinobi Watchtower & train.

Go to the steam workshop and get the map mod that shows the regions. A really great place to start out is Heng or southern Great Desert. Reason being there are slavers in Heng who will sell you lots of valuable products for dirt cheap. There are multiple cities very close in this area which also makes it a prime location. Stoat is in Great Desert too. It is a very good place to build if you want because you can expand quickly by ferrying resources from the slave camps. I've found that especially along the border between the two zones there are really good spots to build. Right now my HQ is near to the beach between a copper node and two iron nodes. If you build your own camp, you'll have to pay the weekly 4000 cats to the traders guild which is no problem. You'll have to fight off squishy Outlaws, but watch out for skitters if you're in Great Desert or on the border. The Outlaws are usually easy to fight and can be sold off to one of the numerous slave shops in the area. You may also get shadow bandits once in a while. They can be more deadly than skitters.
