Don't start buddy.
I mean specifically these sets. They make a lot more sense than most of the, shall we say... less effective... "Armor" in the game.
Though I do like the look of the Samurai Platemail, certain other armor in game needs (Desperately) a remodel.
What am I starting exactly? Considering that Ashigaru were, at times, unarmored...
That.
I'm saying we need some realistic and protective armor sets to replace some of the fantasy BS in game.
I'm not going to nit pick what the armor is called. It looks good, and it works. That's good enough for me.
But saying you want armor based off the Ashigaru isn't specific enough since they used a variety, even looking at the gallery you talk about has different types of armors, one of which is similar to the samurai armor in-game.
Yes, I know the gallery I presented has a few different styles in there, but they're all Light Armor and were effective, while also looking good. IE, like armor. UNLIKE some of the "armor" we get in game.
I propose we replace that crap with this much better option.
I think it would be better off as a medium armor, but then again, I think that both HN and UC should have a design variant of it while essentially being the same in protection but differing in coverage. Say the UC has theirs look like the Ashigaru while the HN is closer to what the Byzantines used.
I agree, it would do well as Light / Medium armor, there could be a version for both.
The Byzantine idea.... That could be interesting, or HN might use Euro Armor if the Dev doesn't want to go that route, though HN does use a Bucket Zukin, which I find as a pleasing helmet for archery, along with the Flared and other Zukin, and UC doesn't use it, for some reason.
I find it a bit harder to imagine what armor style HN would like.
The "Merc" armor though, and especially the helmet, needs a rework though.
In general, it's best to have a discussion and come to an agreement before posting it as a suggestion, especially if you're open to ideas about how to improve the idea or concept you're bringing forth.
I'm not sure if you're calling me or the dev lazy, but either way, it's not appropriate.
This game is not yet feature complete, and there is still time for refinement and ajustment before the game releases. The Dev still needs to hear good feed back from the gamers, rather than gamers just turning to mods before it's even finished, thus robbing the dev and other gamers of potential improvements to the game, which might even make some of those mods redundant.
Or, in short. Imagine the dev is always asking "How can I fix anything if I don't know what's wrong?" And help the dev by offering constructive advice or suggestions for improvement.
I will continue to ask for things until Dev Support ends, and only then consider mods. You might also consider this path in the future.
Both.
The cuirass compliments the Zukin hoods and Helmet we have in game, and offers good protection. IRL, in Japan there were Ashigaru and Samurai during the Edo Era who wore full sets of chainmail. It honestly looks wierd, but it works for them, so I won't judge it, and it would complete the various Chainmail Headgear we get. (Though I'd like it if they'd add Chainmail Shorts or Pants as well, since it makes sense to have GOOD leg armor other than just the Samurai Leg Plates and the new Cut Stop pants. (Forgot exact name, and I've not captured a set to examine yet)
The Breast Plate can be either Medium or Light Armor, and offer an alternate to the Leather Armor present in game, and offers a lighter alternate to the Samurai, Merc, and Holy plate armor. It also compliments the Flared and Masked Helmets. (I despise the Visored Helmet as it stands, and pray it gets a makeover.)
The leg armor presented offers a nice balance of mobility and practical protection as well, something the game sorely lacks at this stage.
Noticed in the article one of the links mentioned Lamellar/Brigandine. I wouldn't mind those types being added too. How about you?
I'd like it if the Fantasy BS "Looks cool but really bad at actually protecting you" armor was removed and replaced with practical and cool armor. This game isn't trying to be the next Final Fantasy, Guild Wars, LOL, or WOW.
This game is supposed to be a world where Swords (and now crossbows too) are again the major weapons of the day. That means armor designed to protect the wearer from those weapons would return to prominence as well. The whimsical "Look cool" factor is too high vs the actual protection provided on many pieces of equipment we have in game now, and the users wouldn't survive actual combat. I feel this must be addressed.
I know, they're not trying to be "Super Realistic" but at the same time, much of the "Armor" we get wouldn't fly if lives were actually on the line.
Because this is probably the worst of times to send a suggestion that will eventually get lost since the dev is focusing on bug fixing and other tecnical stuff, after that's done and the kitchen's clean you can start discussing about the armour menu.
