There is no reason to make flour for starters, it's not a good way to make money. Mine some ore, melt some steel, and forge high-level blades, each easily worth 6k+. Same with armor, naturally.
Or make alcohol (wheat will come in handy, although rice is a true king), it's even better and legal everywhere you go, plus bottles do stack very nicely! Bear in mind also that some nations have increased buying prices, for example UC guys are in love with sake. Sometimes it's worth a little extra footwork.
Or be a shady druglord! Hashish sells for absolutely incredible amounts of money. It requires a bit of research and preparation, but even with a tiny farm you'll quite literally swim in cats.
EDIT: Oops, forgot to be on topic, I make bread, lots of it. Just because I can, and I don't want to carry all the stuff to sell to a shop either lol ;o)
On a side note, bread used to be a really good money better for starting base, but it was nerfed, which might explain why it's not really valuable anymore.
Rice&veggies rule in this department. 4 hydro greenfruits plus 2 hydro rice provides (or half the amount in farms I guess) enough food for full 30 people squad (without skeletons) with a healthy surplus for travels. And also harvesting and cooking this stuff requires almost no time, so your farmer/chef have almost half of his time free to tend any additional tasks.
True dat, though I like to keep my farmer and cook dedicated to making a surplus so I can take my full group on really long excursions without having to stop at outposts. Plus most of guys are idle anyway due to automation/ resource overload.
