Being a thief is a meme.
Sorry not sorry, but stealing something multiple rooms below/above a sleeping character and still only getting a 30% chance of success, you have to be joking.

thieving was (and some argue still is) overpowered.. the devs then nerfed it (which many didn't like)

think about it: how long do you need to craft/farm to get 100k.. now try stealing 100k: easy..

basically the lower your skill the more noise you make so you wake people up

I don't believe noise is a valid excuse when you get caught from multiple floors above/below for stealing a piece of bread from a wicker basket.
Koraxious Jul 21, 2018 @ 11:56am
The best way to start off thieving is to take items from floors/shelves, until your thievery level gets high enough that you can take items from containers with little to no risk of getting caught. I've also heard that some people will take stolen items, drop them on the floor, and pick them up repeatedly to get fast thievery levels. It's a bit of an exploit, but if you start off in The Hub or some other barren place, you won't have many stores to rob.
Hope this helps.

If you beat up a bandit and their playing dead repeatly steal loot of them and put it back. Thieving will level fast. At level 70 you can pretty much fence in the same town you stole in, which means you never have to worry about money again.

The moment you get skilled at crafting you can AFK and come back rich. Leveling armorsmithing is cake.

Hell everything makes money easy. Hire mercs for 2k (basically nothing), wipe out beak things, stack many eggs in a merchants backback = stupid profit.

At least stealing has risk.

Yep... It's massively OP when you only need about 25-30 theivery to have an almost guaranteed 100% chance to steal from most stores, and you're stealing weapons easily worth 2k-5k each...

Even after the reduced resale value of a stolen item, you're easily making tens of thousands of cats...

Though you're correct that you can pretty much AFK and come back rich, you have to take the time to actually establish the "supply chain" needed to get your crafting up to that level, and then continue to feed your production, not to mention have the available storage to keep churning them out... And this doesn't even consider having to periodically defend your base from raids...

Where as stealing allows you to easily, and reguarly make 10's of thousands of cats by simply running back and forth between different faction towns...

Stealing also has the added benefit to quickly gearing up your party with the best items... Items that need tech level unlocks (mail and plate) in order to actually use the recipe's you've (I presume) been buying to manufacture...

not to mention that if you are crafting in your base (as opposed to a city) you also need to be strong enough to fend off raids..

also i don't like going afk for a long time because my recruits tend to wander off chasing enemies..

I think the Devs worry about us making money too much, and constantly seek ways to shaft us instead of trying to fix deeper issues with the game.

Money means NOTHING. You buy a few things, and you sell a few things, money accumulates. That's it, but it's not really useful after a short while anyway.

You can't buy training to buff your characters, only time and fighting does that. Money is an illusion and one that's way overhyped.

i don't think they don't want to fix it but that the engine doesn't support a economy as complex as you guy seem to want..

remember how old the ogre 2.0 engine is and how much they have added on top..

sure would i love to see reactive economics but sadly i think that will be for kenshi 2 (if ever)

Oh, I dunno... When you have 600k and get to Scraptown, money's by no means an illusion...

You mean Black Desert City? Or is there a legit Scraptown somewhere that I've missed?

The skill for stealing is still the most overpowered Skill ingame to make easy money, thus if you can dodge the awoken Owner you don't get an Bounty on your head after you got caught stealing also : If you get caught stealing check out if he is still sleeping or awake when he is still sleeping w8 a few ingame minutes at best 3 then continue stealing that's how I managed to have an 112% chance on traders goods
