Oh and here's a fun story. I was getting all geared up and ready to go to kill the Bugmaster and claim the bounty and as I was leaving Admag where I was buying my gear some random shek challenged my party to a fight. We won, then a group of hundred guardians decided to fight me because apparently fighting a shek that CHALLENGED US TO A FIGHT without giving us the option to decline was a crime or something so my entire party gets wiped out by the hundred guardians when I was prepping to help kill the bugmaster, their long time enemy. Sigh... But yeah I had to reload and then when I delivered the bugmaster I actually became allies with the shek, but until then, I think Admag is really dangerous for this weird combo wombo of being challenged to a duel by an idiot and then getting attacked by hundred guardians for winning a duel.
Seems reasonable.
The starting stats need a good rethink imo. We're supposed to be on an even basis with NPCs as it were, but we're actually heavily disadvantaged statwise; everyone we recruit is a massive chump, well below the norms for society. Even the good recruits.
You can't really absorb losses or deaths ever because of the massive investment in building up people plus the limited pool of recruits.
I mean where did these guys all get hired from for shops/caravans/guards. Pretty sure that shopkeeper didn't grind his guards to 40s in stats.
I still remember in Skyrim how NPC would level with you, so by endgame when capped, I saw a bunch of guards kill a dragon by themselves. So much for the "world eater" and end of the world stuff.
Balance and all that.
This is no exception. If Ruka was 100 everywhere, that would break the game. She would be able to solo pretty much everything except maybe guarded unique NPCs like Tengu.
As for less stats, then what would we do with our super warrior ? There is little challenges left once you reach 50~ stats.
