"UHHHHHHHHHH LOOK AT ME I WAS A HUNDRED GUARDIAN!"
Not sure if it was Kang, Ruka or Rane but claiming to once have been a Hundred Guardian with stats around 15 is insulting to the actual Hundred Guardians with stats of 100+.

Agreed. Haha. There's a lot of newer characters being added into the game that I haven't seen before like Crumplejon or Beep. But maybe that's just me not having seen all the recruitable NPC's yet. Kang if I remember correctly was all like "need protection flatskin? I'm buff as f**K..." And once you hire Kang he goes "Nobody will ever touch you again". Ruka is all like "I cut my horns off cuz I'm such a loser because I lost a fight... waaaaaah" and when you tell her to stop crying and that she can try again she joins. Rane I think is the one who makes that claim maybe, she has some better starting stats and some gear but overall isn't anywhere near the hundred guardians.

Oh and here's a fun story. I was getting all geared up and ready to go to kill the Bugmaster and claim the bounty and as I was leaving Admag where I was buying my gear some random shek challenged my party to a fight. We won, then a group of hundred guardians decided to fight me because apparently fighting a shek that CHALLENGED US TO A FIGHT without giving us the option to decline was a crime or something so my entire party gets wiped out by the hundred guardians when I was prepping to help kill the bugmaster, their long time enemy. Sigh... But yeah I had to reload and then when I delivered the bugmaster I actually became allies with the shek, but until then, I think Admag is really dangerous for this weird combo wombo of being challenged to a duel by an idiot and then getting attacked by hundred guardians for winning a duel.

Jon and beep have been in game for a good while now, I make it a priority to get jon and beep specifically on new games. Beep because.. Beep.

Beep is my dude. I liked how he'd just start occasionally 'beeping' but I fell in love when he started celebrating after winning fights.

Rane the Giant said that, that she was one. She lost that rank for reasons rather clear I'd think.
Insigar Kayen Jul 18, 2018 @ 4:43pm
And of course after she lost her rank she lost 85 in EVERY stat she had...
Seems reasonable.

She went on a drinking binge and they degraded

Rane claims to have been named by the Stone Golem for being awesome and its like, urr, okay, but your stats are just 20 across the board. You're barely better than a dust bandit Ruka.

The starting stats need a good rethink imo. We're supposed to be on an even basis with NPCs as it were, but we're actually heavily disadvantaged statwise; everyone we recruit is a massive chump, well below the norms for society. Even the good recruits.

You can't really absorb losses or deaths ever because of the massive investment in building up people plus the limited pool of recruits.

I was thinking a while now that recruits that claim to be "great warriors" be it paladin or hundred guardian or ♥♥♥♥ of the phoenix himself should be at these levels. Of course for the sake of balance and everything they should be much harder to get. But saying "Hey, I'm a Paladin (70 stats)" and then getting someone with 20 is just fraud. Either make them much much harder to get (like in the FCS "Stronger than blabla" condition) or change the dialogue.

Really seems like there should be a whole lot of people in the 20-50 range for hire that magically don't exist.

I mean where did these guys all get hired from for shops/caravans/guards. Pretty sure that shopkeeper didn't grind his guards to 40s in stats.

Some of the recruits were a bit higher in stats. I believe crumblejon actually had 60 strength before they were weakened to make the game more challenging.

I got some random Merc captain to join for 20k has all 75+ stats and specialist gear never seen him before any where till he cruised through Hud so I’m on the look out for more like him

Welcome to the magic world of videogame ! It could be worse, in level based game the "super threat that will destroy the world" monster from the tutorial can be one shotted when you are maxxed, while the random bandits of your level might give you trouble. And NPC brag about how they are super bad*** and have terrible stats.

I still remember in Skyrim how NPC would level with you, so by endgame when capped, I saw a bunch of guards kill a dragon by themselves. So much for the "world eater" and end of the world stuff.

Balance and all that.

This is no exception. If Ruka was 100 everywhere, that would break the game. She would be able to solo pretty much everything except maybe guarded unique NPCs like Tengu.

I think Rane should have had Hundred Guardian Stats. While the dev said he nerfed the stronger recruitable characters in the spirit of the game. But you see the theme of this game is not about balance. If balance was so important then you would start out with better stats and only fight enemies equal to you and as you progress enemies will get stronger. But this is not what this game is about, the world doesn't care about you? So why should you care about the world? Point is if someone was a Hundred Guardian then theres no reason why they shouldn't have Hundred Guardian Stats or slightly weaker. By the way Hundred Guardians have around 60 strength and 40 dex and 55 toughness roughly. It would make things more consistant in my opinion. Like hey if you managed to recruit yourself a Hundred Guardian; elite warriors of the Shek, why wouldn't that reflect in your now siginificantly stronger military power?

The game is about surviving and starting as the biggets "noob" ever. Mostly. Having the ability to hire a super character than can solo almost the entire game is just wrong. Even if it's lock behind a big paywall, you can just steal that money over time and done, you've won the game.

As for less stats, then what would we do with our super warrior ? There is little challenges left once you reach 50~ stats.
Mish101 Jul 19, 2018 @ 3:37am
Yeh so? Its your choice if you wan't to hire the super warrior or not. Just as its your choice if you want to steal or mine rocks all day.
