Base in the Great Desert

I want to be close to the Samuari Strong holds, but I can't find anywhere with water. Nor anyone selling wheet blueprints. Is there an Oasis anywhere?

Wheat is researched, You need 2 of ("strawhey?" I forget the name) And books to research it.


And there is no water in the desert (le gasp). Highest I know of either the coast line, or to adapt to the low percentage, with multiple wells.

I don't recommend putting up a base in the desert because there are frequent slaver raids there that might wreck your fledgling outpost. You have been warned.

I'm starting to see that, but I figured the desert was the only place where i'd find katana blueprints.

Rebel Base near the Hub have all (or at least a decent amount if you're patient enough to visit with every restock) the bacic recipes for weapons. UC weapon traders might have some too, but they are more orientatied towards blunt and sabres.

Scrapyard might have a few blueprints too, but for medium squads of 10-12 fighters it's probably much more efficient to buy everything you need, instead of researching 6 tech levels and ALSO weapon grades with hunderds of workhours and really rare books, and then spending a few months training your smith to have a decent chance of crafting a worthy piece of metal. Armor might be a good investment, but not the tools of war.

The new rain collector should solve your water problems in the desert. It can be researched.

I already have several bases in the desert & have wells which work, granted, not very well but they still work. You must be in a part that has no water or I was lucky to find it everytime lol ;o)

If you need water, you could make a little sub-outpost dedicated to wells to gather water. You just might have to clear it out now and again from freeloading banditos.

You could build in the stormgap coast south of the Howlers Maze... its not near the major UC towns but has small towns get supplies...the desert imo can get a bit crazy depending on the area you build at. Just watch ou tthough the enemies in stormgap are dust bandit equivalent.

I settled in Bark. Only for the easy access and limited shops. No one to recruit there, but you might be able to setup near there. Get your research up and have one dude construct the base a wall at a time. That way, no one will raid you immediately.
