They're scammers
God I love this game
lol...my main fighting squad has 8 people. They all have lanterns. Dude shows up in my base periodically, and I typically go through that dialog a few times and buy more. It wouldn't shock me if 20 or 30 of my 100+ squadmates have lanterns - each being 2500 cats. I'm making those hivers rich.
Whenever the other hive caravan comes through, I buy all of their food, and then dump all of my excess product so they leave with nearly 0 cats. I'm tempted to wipe out lantern guy, but don't want to impact my relationship with the hive. Decisions decisions....
I use them as an on-person light source, though I don't think they remove the "in darkness" debuff.
Mine still have 200 full charges after running through the fog for nearly 2 hours
Atleast, one of my guys, equipped with one, did mine at night without a extern light at full potential.
It doesn't completely work for smiths from what I can tell. They still get a darkness debuff.
