Best biome to settle a nice base?
Farm, mining, etc.

Okran's Pride is pretty good. I've also settled in the Foglands but you need to be prepared for lots of enemies. I've settled in the Swamps, they're okay but you will have some tough enemies. I'm going to settle close to the next quarter of the map as well.

If you settle in Holy Land, make sure to keep your wicked women in check and the sheck and other beasts in the basement, or prepare to be cleansed.

Either way, make sure you pack a nice bonnet for Prayer Day.

For those who want to grow in a green biome without the Holy Nation, there is a really nice spot up Northwest of World's End. It's a little basin with cliffs around. It has a big section of 100% green fertility where you can grow greenfruit, wheat, hemp, at 100%. It has iron right there too, and copper not too far off to the east and the west. It's considered the hidden forest still, which none of the factions have claims on. The cannibals send scrawny raids after you every so often, and you get traders, but I haven't had any Holy Nation or UC groups coming by. So as long as you can handle the scrawny cannibals it's a fairly safe spot. It's the only spot I have found with 100% fertility in a green biome other than the Holy Nation territory. I get a lot of nomads wandering by with goats - I've had them show up and help me fight the cannibals.

Skinner's roam, by the border to deadlands. The wind always blows so you get free energy, plenty of resources to build with, close to robots to keep as training dummies and not a lot of enemies. The only drawback is that there is little water and barren land, but upgraded wells + hydroponics take care of that problem. It's the perfect late-game location since it's in the middle of the map, so you can go anywhere and the return trip won't suck.

So many places to settle, the map is too huge & full of great places. Just find a spot you really like the look of, hit the prospect button to see if it's suitable or find the best spot near it. Then build ;o)

I like Skimmers roam, weak bandits, 3 close city so I've putted base between them, a lot of wind as mentioned above, you can grow everything except veggies, and you dont have to grow them. And I basically love how desert looks. You need(actually dont need but better to have) just a few things - any food source, metal\copper vein nearby and city in acceptable distance so you can buy\sell things. Almost any spot on the map will suit for this criterias.

The border of the swamp and shem gives 100% arid and swamp farming. Plenty of iron and copper, stone is a little weak tho.

Darkfinger has great locations if you don't mind the neighbors.

i went for okrans pride in my game. safe spot, holy empire thing patrols and keeps the area safe, so its safe as long as you have no problem with them. ive had no trouble with them so far. the only problem you get is them animal things, the morowind guar rip off raptors lol soon as you try to farm you get ganked by swarms of them, better off just buying food if you dont want to micromanage and fight them off every 2 seconds :D

Could you post a pic of the spot? Or if anyone else knows what he means, could you show exactly where he means? I know the general area but I mean exactly where.

This sounds perfect for me. Yes can you please post a pic highlighting the general area on the map?

a bit southeast from The Hub,at the border to the Swamp is great.
Settling very close to the biome borders lets you use both farming grounds.
You're pretty in the middle of the whole map, have Squin and the Hub very close by as well as the Waystation which has 3 vendors in total so you can sell a lot of stuff before they're broke.
Currently farming rice, wheat, cactus and hemp. Raidwise i have the UC taxman, prayer day (not much longer, i'll pay a visit soon too and i'll be not the one with the urge to pray then :D ), some various ninjas (black/swamp/red sabres) rarely some spiders or raptors but that stuff can be easily handled by 1-2 mercenary squads.
