Machine is full question

Recently started playing this game, a lot has been added since I last played back in 2014...

Anyways, when trying to mine on my character I get the message that the machine is full even though there's no ore in my inventory. Any idea what I could be missing?

it isn't saying 'your' inventory is full, it is the machine's inventory that is full.

click on it and take the mined resources out of the mines inventory. your character will do this automatically IF you have an appropriate storage box and you shift+right click on the mine to assign it as a permanent job AND have the 'jobs' button on.

That's the thing though, I have no machines built, I'm just wandering around on foot trying to mine the resources by hand. Then after a minute or so of my character mining it gives me the "machine is full" message and it stops the mining animation.

in this case, the machine is the mine. click on it. it will bring up a window with the mines inventory. take the ore. profit.

Oh, I had just assumed it would go to my inventory, thanks for the help.

yeah. i understood why you were confused. but it will only auto collect if you have a container or machine that accepts the output.
