I like the idea of doing it intentionally for augmented capabilities though.
...and surgeons would have a ton of money and buy limbs.
My best crafter lost a leg and I'm distraught :(. Haven't made the trek to get her a good robotic leg and she's hobbling around on hiver junk now.
Without the "DA_Give/Take squad" (scheduled to be released based on their trello..) action it complicates the hand-off/character swap needed and convolutes it to a level I don't really care to think out (essentially along the lines of holding characters, enslaving them, something something darkside..).
It gets a bit tricky immediately, it may be possible to clone the character's physical appearance, but the stats however not cleanly nor easily:
-Clone Physical
To clone the character appearance and prep for 'surgery', the first step would be to talk to the doctor's assistant and they would function like a typical plastic surgeon. The character would be need to be renamed to a set constant like "Patient" and then the model exported in the editor. It would also trigger another tag so that that the next step can be taken.
-Remove Unit
The 'Doctor' would would continue the second step through dialog, typical conditions and the effects would trigger any four world state (one event per limb > one squad > one character) setting in motion the spawn itself.
If DA_Give\Take squad was available at this time, that action would also take affect, removing the character.
-Spawn Cloned Unit
i.e the left arm is taken, it would spawn a solo squad member with the left arm missing and a prosthetic in their inventory. (not sure If I can equip it directly without looking further)
Notes~
The unit being spawned would have one of its properties referencing the 'patient.bod2' file we had exported in the first step, depending on how the engine initializes that asset and when leaves me wondering whether this is possible.
This is a bit dirty, but it should be possible to set up some basic in-game logic using the world_states as bool values, which would be necessary for doing this. Essentially creating a latch gate so that it isn't simply a one time thing nor require multiple states.
I'll follow through on some of this stuff later (still playing the game as is) so I'm not just talking out my ass.
Edit: i really wish someone would call me out somewhere like "You stupid pos, you don't know what you're talking about...this is why...blah blah blah" so if you're out there somewhere, I could really use it, it'd make me happy for so many reasons.
Y'know, the developers have littered the world of Kenshi with shady doctors that transplant organs and shady suppliers of said organs, so I think the option to actually reattach a missing limb with an organic one will be implemented at some point.
Would need AI Cores and an advanced research desk because its an advanced piece of tech.
