Well, there's a Hive Queen on an island to the west... but I don't think she wants to talk to anyone.

I don't think so, they are traders mostly, i am sure if one of them would try long enough, he would sell your own items to you again. :)

No way to ally with them that I know of, but you can get your relations with them pretty high by pulling tons of beak things to their villiages then bandaging up the injured. Thats usually how I train my medics up, just sell the gutters hides to the general merchant and buy small medkits to keep the party going.

as far as I know, medding other factions won't improve relations.

It does, its just very slow. Thats how I tend to get my rep up with bandits and managed to get +11 with the western hives, the person (bug in hives case) or their buddies need to see you healing them to get any credit though.

So what your saying is if I kidnap someone and someone else have them fight beak thing and I heal them I get credit

Medding normal folk does not, the person to be healed needs to have a status in the faction. This is why people say it takes time, cause you do not always know who is important enough to count.

This is an old-ass thread. That said, easiest way to increase relations with a faction is to let them get enslaved, then pay to free them. Pick them up, drop them in-front of the slaver again. They'll get enslaved again by the slaver, which is the important part (don't sell them). You buy them again, repeat. You get juicy relation gains from doing this.

Selling them is fine, and gives you a small rebate on your purchases. There's no penalty for it at all.

Dropping them in front of the slaver works too, but only if they're unconscious.

Pretty sure you don't get any rep points for buying someone you sold.

Nah, they don't care about being sold.

They do care if you put them in to cages yourself, though - that inflicts an instant rep penalty, regardless as to whether anyone sees you do it.

Cost me $1.5 million to ally w/ Mongrel faction (+5 to +55). Take to Eyesocket slave camp and buy and sell. I do it all the time.

HN Outlaws
Empire Peasants
Flotsam Faction
Mercenary Guild
Tech Hunters
Etc.

Don't forget to bring your wallet :)

Edit; Actually 2.4 million, @ 20,000 caps per buy back.

I had to look up my old post "2.4 million caps later..." ( Sept 24 2022).

Did you find the weakest Mongrel faction npc available, or just grab one of the guards? I didn't think it cost that much to max rep with a faction.
The guards at mongrel are more likely to find themselves in a position they can be picked up, and the weaker NPCs may simply join you when trying to do the whole slavery rep grind.

It was some guy on YouTube who managed to get allied with beak things using this strategy.
The crazy guy at the strange camp in the gut belong to the beak thing faction else they just eat him so doing this to him increased relationship with them.
Set him back 400k cat
