Manhunters, why do they do that?

I finally broke up my old base and found a nice spot (thx to the user who showed it to me) in the eye with completly flat area that has a small green spot and now I have the funny 1st phase of building where you have to get up your buildings while bandits want to say Hi to their new neighbours.

First group were grass pirates that wasted no time running into my security spiders. While repairing, a group of manhunters showed up. I thought "Well, they might be here to collect what I beat down."
They suddently start homing in on my builders, while screaming "Easy pickins!" While the first one lifts up his sword, he gets hit by around 5 eagles cross and is dead on the spot. The others find a similar demise.
-1 reputation to manhunters. Idiots...

And another group of manhunters arrives. They seem to be more intelligent, keep their mouth shut and start healing up their fallen comrades while enslaving the grass pirates. Hey, seems okay, you do you and I continue building my base.

Green numbers start rising again, one of the manhunters seem to have hit one of my workers.
All the manhunters are dead.

Seems like my first order of business after building my base is to wipe out all slavers to stop this madness.


(I should pick them up and sell them at a slave market, just for the lulz)

I do wish the AI could at least tell when it's stupidly overmatched and not start hopeless fights with the player.

Hmmm, that guy with 90s in all stats who could wipe out an entire city looks like a slave to me.

Manhunters would not go after you if you sign up membership with Trader Guild by talking to Yamdu at HQ. But I only done that to get Yamdu recruited after capturing Tinfist then reset reputation with factions at import so I can go back ally with anti-slavers whether Yamdu likes it or not lol.

The manhunters go from being somewhat dangerous to being a great source of iron. Once my guys have levelled up a bit I actually look forward to their visits.
