How Do You Holy Nation?

So, here I am, building a new faction for myself and having probably my most enjoyable playthrough of Kenshi at the moment as a full-on Swamper ***hole whose libertarian streak has him on a crash course with the world's slavers, and I was like "Wait a minute... I've done this before!". You know what I mean? The characters and the weapons and the progression is different, but elements of the story are the same as other playthroughs you've done. Like, you just can't bring yourself to roleplay as either the scum of the earth or some wretched brainwashed fool, so you always end up taking a line that puts you at odds with the same factions.

As a little diversion from all this, I decided to play as a simple Holy Nation wandering monk for a while. Something different. Building up skills in Bast fighting Samurai. Spreading the good word. That sort of thing. And then it came time for me to expand and begin to explore a bit more of the mid game, and something struck me - if I'm roleplaying some ****er with a heart full of Okran... how exactly am I supposed to do anything other than fighting and wandering?

I can't buy a house, because I can't build anything there, because all the books I need to do that are blasphemous! I can't use the basic Machinist books to learn how to make furniture, or ancient science books to unlock more options... I can't even build a workbench or learn blueprints, because that's sinful, isn't it?

So... how do you Holy Nation?

FYI, I am fully aware that certain functions need to be universal in games like this, I just think it's funny that there is literally no way to play a Holy Nation character who isn't either a cave person or a deviant, which sort of sets them up as the same's primary antagonist among large factions. That and some other minor characteristics, obviously.

You could just want to rehabilitate everysingle shek and hiver on the map, and for that you have been blessed by the light of okran, okran is too busy to insta feed you and help, but he surely sent you a dream telling you to not fear heresy of knowledge, providing you righteously slay any who dares to raise doubt on your blessed activities and means.

in the middle ages in france, a holy army slaughtered 10 000 civilians who had seeked shelter in the sieged city church, they burnt the church down, it was justified by the famous saying " slay them all, god will recognise his lambs"

The Machinists books aren't forbidden, only Ancient Science, Engineering Research and of course, AI cores.

In a similar playthrough I only allowed my top dogs anything tech related, because you can't allow the lower ranks to become confused with dangerous knowledge.

I mean, you won't get far without a little bit of corruption in the high clergy, eh?

LOL Build a house and sneak them in like I do. Just don't get caught. In one game I built robot arms not far from a holy city. In holy city I make them then walk out the city with them lol.

what're you some kind of half ask monk? any true zealot would know the true calling of okran involves purging the lands of any skeleton or skeleton byproducts, and incinerate any advanced forms of tech you come across. and if you're playing a traditional sense of monk you wouldn't have or want any worldly possessions anyways, like a house.

The Holy Church has lost its way. It is led by the weak, who allow the unwashed and unrepentent masses to storm the walls of Okran's holy cities. It is led by the corrupt who willingly abdicate the authority of the Church and sell, actually sell, the Holy Word of Okran instead of freely, and carefully, presenting and interpreting it to the People! What is worst of all, however, is the continued weakening of the Church with its restrictions against the knowledge that pure men suffered so long to discover. The beggar kings of the United Cities and the half-men monstrosities of the Shek spread like a disease, all aided by the knowledge that men, true men, discovered long ago. Even the manure-eaters of the Hives attempt to embrace knowledge gained by trueborn men that they can not even understand.

Brother, it is time for you to lead us and to lead the church into a new age where Okran's might and mercy can no longer be ignored by the dirty peoples of the world! Okran's church needs your strength and this knowledge that men, true men, gleaned so long ago! What else should the Church be if not a beacon of light and knowledge for all true men to behold?

For me I had experienced most of what Kenshi had to offer after I crawled on the ground without any limbs nor any food from one corner of the world to the other while "hunting" for anything to eat on the way. I was also an enemy of every single faction in the game, small detail. :P

EDIT: Ohh and I hate the Holy Nation, those priest and their darn books, it's like clockwork. Every time I get into the spirit of building I get a "hello have you heard about our lord and saviour mr hate everyone?"

They are the 'insert random evangelical christian' sect of kenshi. so i make it a point to murder them all wholesale. because cults are bad. :P

Wicca isnt a cult. and theres far less blood on the hands of wiccans than christianity in the entirety of its existence. interesting considering the founder of christianity was a pacifist by the very account of the bible. but eh. what christians think is hugely irrelevant.
