Tho sadly nothing said here matters unless your a Hiver, and its almost as if Polearms were made for Hivers. The sad truth is that nothing beats a heavy weapons user with a STR more then 80 using a MKIII Fragment Axe. But when your playing a Hive Worker/Prince all you need is a STR of 25 so you can wear some good lite armor and you just might have a chance!
Their value as a weapon at the very least lasts longer than katanas.
I recently speedleveled a char to around 75+ stats. Though only around 50 strength. (I pulled a guard from the black desert city and used him as training partner)
Then I invaded Heng.
First with a MKIII Nodachi
Then with a MKIII Long Cleaver
In both cases I already had 60/ 50 + weapon skills
Finally I bought a MKIII polearm. Despite not having any weapon skill to begin with I was actually incredibly surprised how well that worked out.
It is likely that my comparatively low strength didnt fully do a hacker class weapon justis. Still, I atleast have revised my perspective on them too. (Perhaps also because they dont require much strength to work)
50 strength might be a bit low to really work with a hacker. So, the more modest performance, atleast compared to what I had imagined, of the cleaver might just be a reflection of that.
Eitherway, for soloing cities I give a first rate seal of approval to naginatas;)
