hivers not eating from food storage

probably something stupid on my part but dried meat is avalible in food storage but they won't eat it unless put it into their inventory. what am I doing wrong here?

they are only set to mine. none of my human colonist have this problem.

Is this mine node further way from others? 2 or more workers on this mine? That can cause a character still mining not to fetch food while another unload ores. Solutions to this, save game then exit the game to windows, launch game and load latest save or with reset squad position and delete their jobs then reassign them back to their jobs. Maybe rotate your characters to different mines.

no same problem. even the hivers I have making armor don't eat...

Are they in hunger mode? If not then no worries. Hives and Scorchlanders can fetch to eat foul raw meats and raw meats from animals if they're nearby. Hives have lowest hunger rate than other races. So hives don't eat as much or often. Sometimes hives get their food from other sources than your food container like animals, animal feeder, even chests if you put whatever is eligible in.

is dried meat acceptable? and also they go well into hungry and wont eat unless i give them food.

Yes dried meat is eligible for hives, sheks, greenlanders, scorchlanders, and animals. Maybe there's bug, or their inventories are full. Try clear all jobs but keep their jobs on, add sitting pillows and stool near food containers in case they were idle at jobs due to no resources which can lead to hunger.
