However, the combat is secretly turned based, however, turns is really based movement speed for attacks and defense. Combat is not like Skyrim to my knowledge, never heard of Elex.
First few seconds of this review will awnser you https://youtu.be/E5dVC15H4R0
I'll look at the video, thanks. And yea I didn't think it would be like Skyrim. Just didn't know what else to ask as a basis to compare it to.
At its core kenshi is about beating the odds so expect to get beat down only to quietly crawl along after playing dead, healing your crew and repairing your machines to swipe victory over the would be victors taking too long in thier spoils. The jaws of defeat are always threatening to chomp down and winning anyway is absolutely exciting in ways most games can't even try to grasp.
edit: thou unlike in PoE, in Kenshi weather effect and lighting play a very important role in combat and your limbs can be chop off
I didn't know there's a demo. I'll check it out.
If I had to compare the combat to other games, its loosely more like an RTS where dependent on your orders your characters will attack/block on their own. There are NPC's that are specific to bounty hunters that you can get jobs from, also bounties you can pick up from the stores. Hell if you want, you can make an army of bounty hunters. Just do not expect to start this game out the gate and kick ass, you need to lose a lot before you become formidable. Toughness is gained largely from losing fights, and thereafter you gain a little by simply being in fights, then eventually you'll turn into a badass. You can recruit more folks as you go along and make yourself a legion of bounty hunters to run as a group, or to spread out through the sandboxed land.
For this type of game, the combat was the most refreshing. I held off for a few years cause I though it was like X-Com, 4x or turned based, however it surprised the hell outta me. But if you're looking for something thats either more like Diablo 2, where usable skills are the biggest thing, or where micromanaging is a requirement, might not be for you. Hope the demo doesn't overwhelm you as the game is definitely worth $30.
Well it´s not like in a RPG, because you can get hit by a strike that was targeted to some other person and if it collides with your hitbox then you will get hit, even if you have 9 million defence, so sometimes it´s better to fight 1vs1 and not 3vs1 because a single strike could hit everyone around you :S
Oh and 1 more thing, it also has SOME RPG elements because i have seen a character dodge a hit, even if it clearly passed right through him, but that´s just luck
Except the combat is NOTHING like M&B whatsoever... I still can't understand why people make this comparison, you only give the people the wrong impression..
