Food barrel problem

1 of my people wont auto eat from the food barrel even tho every1 else does no problem

Turn on his "Jobs" button on the bottom right of the screen. (Tells the game he's part of the town) Make sure he's in range of the barrel and not too busy with manually assigned tasks (like ordering him to a turret without pressing the shift key). Make sure the food in the barrel is edible.
Also make sure he's not a skeleton.

its just a fat woman assigned to construction but there r no current jobs and her job button is on and there is alot of different foods in the barrel including things ive seen her eat before and she standing right next to it. so i dunno maybe if i save and reload?

If she's standing next to the barrel and you didn't put her there' she probably got food, you just missed it. as long as she's not into malnutrition there's no problem anyway.
(you can always check the arrow on the hunger meter to see if somebody has eaten recently and is still digesting their last meal.)

Make sure her inventory has enough space for single food item

i put her next to the barrel because her hunger was in the red and shes only carrying a bandage

This is a long shot, but is she a character from a mod?

Just something to grasp at. does she have backpack and enough space 1 food? the reason being animal eat from squad backpacked food. also there is a ai option for squadies to share food and its done from backpack. if she not have backpack maybe interfer with eating?

shes got an empty backpack and shes half from a mod. she was originally a hungry bandit but i put her in a cage and used a recruiting mod to make her mine but other hungry bandits i got the same way eat from the barrel no problem

that might be part of the problem, she might be missing the "get food when hungry" AI from being an NPC (a perpetually starving one too) not sure what you could do about it.

Happens all the time to me from recruiting prisoners mod, just save and reload and it should fix this, same as when your turrets shoot new recruits.

if my recruits r under attack from town guards will saving and reloading work then or do i have to reload from before they got attacked?

i went out of the game but ive been busy and havent gone back in.

Hey bud, have had the issue as well (with quite a few mods, so who knows what caused it) But it was an easy fix;
Save your game and exit, then when you start it back up, hit "Import" and load up your save that way (you'll only need to do it that one time, future saves can be loaded as normal :) ). This also fixes every other issue I have had
