Variant of Crafted Samurai Armor
One of my smiths made a couple sets of Samurai armor that have a slight bluish hue on the helmets and some blue accent straps the legs, as opposed to the usual default silver-grey color. Is this somehow triggered or random?

could be from a mod?
Would your smith happen to be Agnu? :) I ask bc some characters (as well as NPCs) have specific “color packages” attached to their information that effectively does exactly what you described. Now if your Smith is coloring some sets of samurai Armour and not others, that’s a something I have no idea about lol

samurai armor cannot be colored with that method

I’m not sure about Agnu , bunny, but it certainly can! The changes are very subtle but you can in fact change the accents on the samurai skirt! You’ve been around this game longer then me and helped me with several things already (so I know you know the game well) so I will have to take a look at my game, maybe my game is bugged? Interesting!

Sorry I meant the samurai legplates! They look like a skirt on my potato laptop lol

It was crafted by a scorchlander named Soto, who I believe is generic, but he also crafted the usual looking kind as well.

Im not using any armor changing mods.

Strange though, around the same time I had recruited Reva from the Flotsam ninjas. I exchanged a colored armored rag skirt with her and she turned it black. She only did this once.
The fact that Soto crafted both types is super odd. This sounds like some sort of fluke or bug and may be why my armor colored as well. I also am not using any armor changing mods. I'm ape brained with the fcs and modding even at the very basic lvl so I can literally offer no actual advice or logic as to why this sort of thing may happen. Hopefully someone pops in here with some insight bc I'm curious now lol. Sorry mang!

It looks cool,

If its connected with Reva changing my armored rags to black(only 1 time)around the same time I made these samurai sets, then I should be saying the samurai helm and leg straps has a blackish tint rather than "blueish," and maybe they are in fact aligning with the Flotsam Ninja faction color?

But I did not ever equip these sets on Reva or any Flotsam ninja (I dont think..). I think I only ever equipped them onto a Shek named Nam Tran from Mongrel and another Shek (drifter?generic?) named Kumo. They currently wear them.

Probably something triggered by a mod I use. I don't use too many, just the big, 5 star main subscription ones, and bouncing boobies of course!

This is likely what is going on for me as well! I pretty much only run quality of life mods (like the popular 5 star ones) too. Now as far as duh boobies go...ohh das hot lol

No the samurai helmet and legplates are colorable this is working as intended if your smith has a color package attached to them. Only the samurai chest armor isn't colored unless you have a mod that makes the Empire version of it craftable.

I was nearly certain this was the case but have only manipulated the legplates. Are this color packages visible in the fcs? just curious if you know =)

Some characters will "dye" equipment when the gear is placed into their inventory. Not all gear can be dyed, and not all characters will recolor things. In addition, any piece of gear can only be dyed once.
Samurai Armor: only the samurai helmet and samurai skirt can be recolored by default. However, NPCs in the world are not wearing the craftable samurai armor, they are wearing a completely different samurai armor, that is exactly the same in every way except it has a different item code. This samurai armor IS recolorable and has full RGB support. You may have a mod that allows you to craft the normally uncraftable samurai armor, or the game gave you the wrong kind of samurai armor.
What armor can be recolored?
Not much. Anything that is worn by multiple factions in multiple colors can be dyed by the player.
Off the top of my head, Mercenary Plate + Visored Helmet, the 'Armored Rags' set (skirt and torso piece), Halfpants/Ragged Pants, samurai helmet/pants as mentioned, and anything that says [Colored] in its name.
What NPCs recolor gear?
Any NPC that belongs to a faction with colors will recolor your gear. Even your own recruits that used to belong to other factions.
Slaves you free from the holy nation, for example, will dye gear you give them the same bright orange as their slave clothes.
Kidnapped inquisitors will dye things dark red. Red Sabers a lighter red. The various ninja/thieves groups will give you different levels of black. The 'black desert ninjas' are the ones who offer true black.
Agnu dyes things 'empire blue', because she counts as a member of the second empire.

This is exactly what happens. Reva originally belonged to the 'flotsam ninja' faction, and so she will dye any gear you give her the 'dark black' used by the flotsam ninja faction, if the gear can be recolored.
'Mongrel' is a faction too, they also dye things the same 'dark black' used by the flotsam ninjas. If the guy you picked up in Mongrel was from the 'Mongrel' faction (most recruits belong to the 'drifters' faction, you see) then they will also dye the gear you give them.
