My Deadland base experience
I've been meaning to set a base up in Deadland for some time now.

First thing first though, Deadland zone has no water, no fertility, and 24 hours acid rain.

The zone does have stone on few selective spots. One of the spots have stone, iron, and copper all on the same spot and that's where I set my base up.

I have yet to relocate everyone to this base yet and half of my veteran defenders are currently missing but that hasn't been a problem because ...

not a single random (roaming) bandit group paid a visit. There have been, however hive merchants visits which makes sense since hives are immune to acid.

Because it rains 24 hours a day, despite having no water, the hydroponics farms water on its own which actually makes farming somewhat more convenient since carrying water is omitted entirely.

While there is no random bandit raids, sand ninja faction very far North of the area will send scripted raids.

So far though, only one of the raid parties (out of 3) made it to my base. The first two parties never made a successful journey to my base. The last one did make it to my base gate but only two arrived, heavily crippled due to acid rain and were crawling toward my gate.

So far..., boring as hell but a good place to set up a peaceful base for serious expeditions.

Very center spot of map, saves a lot of time travelling. Prolly best not to ally with human & shek factions cuz their reinforcements would melt away.

I just came to notice that I needed water to cook bread. Since there is no animal around, I need breads as raw meat replacement.

What do you know, Deadlands have water. Granted, it looks like an oversight but it's on border between Deadlands and Grey desert.

The water (20%) is technically in Deadlands. It's about 10 steps away from Grey desert.

you could build a water collection thing, no need to build wells

Rain collector didn't work in Deadlands. I tried.

I have found that I can get sufficient supplies easily by raiding HN caravans and shops, barely any need for cooking as I get both rations and ingredients aplenty if I ever feel the need to. Furthermore, it's a nice kick between the legs to supply my crusade(?) against HN with their own food.

Deadland base is arguable a good base. Low/no raid. It is hard to set up and run mainly due to environmental factor. But logistically, DL is in the middle of the map and next to one of the best city in the game

I think you can cook gohan without water.

Even If you don't use mostly/only skeletons there, Dustcoat + pretty much any hat pretty much geds rid of the enviromental problems. haven't seen gas clouds in the deadlands, but there's enough other equipment to put on a gas mask and move the remaining acid protection elsewhere.

There are mods like mech leviathans, ancient terrors, etc which add dangers to Deadlands if you like to trigger raids from major factions that they would have to deal with them before coming to your base.

I was looking for where copper and iron can coexist in the deadland. it will be a nice top zone for my people who are all robots, thanks

Raiding HN is great when you need to resupply on the go but the whole point of having a base is to come home with food ready, or simply leaving the base on auto mode.
