What do pack beasts eat?

raw meat, raw etc, anything animals eat, anything herbivores eat.

My garru ate everything that was edible. He ate meat, cooked food, and ration packs. Even though Garru are supposed to be herbivores (plant eaters). *shrug*

They eat anything. As Rook said, even though they're supposed to be herbivores, they're actually omnivores. Same with the dogs. All my animals live off Gohan. I guess the dogs eat limbs on occasion but that's the only meat they get.

as a side note, because beasts don't have a regular inventory you'll need to either get them a backpack to put their food in, or enable backpack sharing with at least one of your characters wearing a backpack with food in it.

I Setup near a river, and would "harvest" the water raptor things for skins/rotten meat which the animals eat but (most) of the NPC's dont. saves them from starving

I sometimes find that the sharing from backpacks thing doesn't work for some characters. Even though everyone is standing still, and they have space to take the food, they just don't. When out on an excursion, I make sure the pack animals have their own food in their own packs - seems to work ok.

So, given they eat everything including even foul meat I'll assume you tried to feed them nothing instead of trying to feed them anything...

I have a feeding trough with just rotten meat in it and both bonedog and bull love it.
