2) The rules if I remember are very lax, however, those things would be against the rules (actually against rule number 1).
3) Even if they are making "disgusting memes." They would be given their "likes" and "dislikes" based on the community's tolerance for such items. Hence no one would post for negative internet points.
4) What does this have to do with the steam forum?
If I was LO-Fi, I would do something to avoid that my Brand is associated with certain practice or tasteless/racist/discriminating memes. It is marketing 101.
@War Medic (I guess it is just a nick or you would be even more indignated then me), dude look better...or maybe, what indignates me, it is normal for you so you don't notice what I mean.
What does it have to do with the Steam forum? It does, as on Steam people seem to be more civilized, adult, educated and caring for the game, it is a place to discuss Kenshi and I am discussing Kenshi.
Anyways, I am happy to give an analysis on any piece of information you can present that you think I missed (please do not link more than 5 examples). Just remember perceived internet anonymity promotes ugly behavior, but one person needs to interpret items at their core of being done out of maliciousness or entertainment. If done out of entertainment, no need to get upset about it.
This forum is apolitical, out of real world issues (same rules as kenshi's reddit in that regard), so using an example in a meme such as this meme start mod, I would say you may believe it is mocking people with handicaps. I would not understand because it is done out of playfulness for a limb mechanic and its target is not people, but digital pixels for a start.
So unless you have the means and will, in which case you are creepy as hell, to start a war on what happens in middle school recess, let it go?
People don't need common sense to realise that the people acting like trash don't reflect the developers, (or company or whatever) They're just consumers of a product. Besides people always makes jokes about everything, political, racial, sexual, gender, etc etc, it's called free speech. This an't communist China where your every opinion you type on a computer gets monitored by some rat who than calls the chinese equivalent of the FBI on you.
While these things aren't right by any means. It all comes down to as a joke. A joke that you fell for due to how you got "angry" at some nerds post on the internet.
Just live and let live, getting angry an't gonna stop them
Noooo, that is totally not what I meant, but it's a good example anyways. Potato man on the left,is just a bunch of pixels, no problem with that as he actually...does not exist;-)
If he would have been a real limbless person though....how would you have felt about the "funny" meme?
Here are a few examples I found in a moment...
https://old.reddit.com/r/Kenshi/comments/c0bpsl/when_your_character_is_malnourished_and_you_have/
https://i.redd.it/v01beu5ri2q21.jpg titled :"Mozambique, looks like hi-def Kenshi"
and I can't find the one that triggered me today, I guess the genius who post it has taken it down. It was basically a paraolympics sprint race, the athlets were having their obvious issues running and one was basically crawling...yet competing, while the poster was making some joke about limbs or learning to run...
The fact that those are kids making these jokes, scares the hell out of me for the future...a world without emphaty? Thanks but no thanks...
If you people find this stuff normal, don't even bother answering as I have no wish to have any interaction with you, otherwise I will be happy to have an adult conversation.
Well, I guess you are 100% right, I come from an era when ethics, empathy, the sense of community, good manners and common sense were the norm....
Let me just say that it's all fine and dandy if these people is some poor bastard on the other side of the world....but WHAT IF one day it would happen TO US? Would we find it as much fun? Would we behave in the same forgiving way?
I doubt it...
Since the beginning...and apart from the occasional troll,I have never seen stuff like this in the old days...to find this crap you had to look for it.
I have seen this sort of stuff only relatively recently, unless the "meme culture" is older then I thought.
Someone writes something "offensive" that is supposed to "affect" me I'd just look at it, maybe a little chuckle would come out, and then I'd move on and keep doing whatever it was I was doing before hand, very simple.
It's not my right to not ever be offended, but it's my responsibility to be able to control myself and not allow silly emotions get in the way of logic and common sense, and also to not be a prick to others.
If someone doesn't have that ability of self-control and ends up spoutting nonsense in the internet, that's their problem to solve, not mine.
How? One day you will be old and in need of help for example, people instead of helping you out, will mock you, bully you, steal your money and throw your wheelchair in the river...
Or imagine how the parents of kids with handicaps feel when they are treated as they actually are by certain people, not to mention the kids themselves...what if that way will become the norm?
"Moving on" is not always the right thing to do in the long term...
Hah wow, well, when I'm an elder and people steal my money and throw my wheelchair in the river I'd expect the authorities to deal with them I suppose.
But the mater at hand here are mostly children writting nonsense on reddit right? I think you're overblowing it a itsy bit wouldn't you say?
Also again, you talk about how people would "Feel" by reading such things? I mean they can scream and cry about it all they want, won't change a thing, so their choice is either to act like adult human beings and be able to control their precious lil' feelings, or just keep screaming and crying worthlessly.
