Pack beast

A have a few questions about pack beast if i put food in there back pack will my people and animals eat from it? how many pack beast to people ratio i was thinking 2 food ones and 1 for bolts,meds,prostetic limbs and any extra gear i need/find. I should have around 35 to 40 people take or give counting shek skeletons and animals food consuption rate is diffrent.

Squad members will eat from any other squad member's pack (including animals), as long as they have chance to (i.e. they are allowed to stop moving for long enough to do so). I operate a small away team of eight humanoids and three pack animals, and I still don't have enough storage space. That said, my base isn't well automated enough for me to spare the manpower, but that's the goal; the higher your tech level, the more manpower you can spare, and therefore induct promising labourers into the front line team.

Sounds like you're using a mod though if you have a team greater than 30. I'm playing vanilla, so more than that, can't assist, I'm afraid.

My base has grown to 70, and I find that I only need 5 (need being a word i'll use loosely).

I use 4 of them as a mobile food storage. I fill these full of food cubes, and place them on hold in areas where people may get stuck with the pathing. This prevents them from starving if i fall asleep at the keyboard with the game running. For your squaddies to eat, the animal has to be in the same squad as them.

I use the 5th animal as my caravan beast. I usually take one of the food animals along also to sell off excess food and eliminate hunger.
