i usually do play with some "house rules" to make the progression a bit more consistent. like never strealing items of higher than "white" quality level. imo it trivializes the game too much if you just run to mongrel or worlds end and steal yellow gear - especially weapons. so i avoid that and limit myself. feels more rewarding to buy the good stuff after "earning" money trhough gameplay. or to craft the good stuff after investing the effort of getting a character to a high level crafting skill.
For better results, the devs should put an option for ironman mode ( i always played with 4x death chance and neko's stronger group)
Saving is not scumming it's just preventing ruining your game over one little bug.
Yes I do agree with that so I just save every once in a while to prevent having an advantage.
I never play Kenshi without some kind of RP in mind. Losing someone can suck (especially if it's a unique recruit or someone you're particularly fond of), but they can be replaced by a new recruit.
I also tend to avoid using thievery as it's quite overpowered... But when I do, if I get caught I just deal with the consequences. As long as the rest of my squad isn't nearby when I'm doing the deed, only the would-be thief is tagged with a bounty. I just run him out of town and stay away from that faction for a few days until the bounty expires.
it's possible if you have a handfull of people, but if it comes to more than 10 moving around... characters hangs here, hangs there (especially in regions like swamps), full grown mules loves it 2. sure, run back and pick it up to fix it, but sometimes you don't recognize it and someone is dying @ the end of the world and all this stupid things... atm i have my shek only run, 21 roaming sheks + 2 mules, don't ask how often i have to run back and pick someone up.
really rare but sometimes the game just crash without warning or soundbug or whatever.
i am fine with losing limbs or characters in a fight, get caught by stealing or can't find the bp or someone get enslaved or whatelse.
but this small things make me gonna go mad...
i love kenshi for what it is, but for ironman the game needs to run 99% fine, kenshi doesn't do that.
so i personally just save more than it is necessary... cause of all this small things. loading is another story. everytime i am finished with my session, i delete all saves and only keep the last 2 real named savegames. cause you never know...
I save scum. Simply too many times where I'm building a base and a swarm of enemies spawns in just off screen, runs in, and knocks a quarter of the team out before I notice anything's going on because I'm doing something on the other side of town.
Last time I reloaded a save was a couple months ago. One of my strongest characters got stuck in a wall (stepped backwards into it during a block animation) and was then hacked to death by a bunch of samurai. If she didn't get stuck in a wall (which seemed to prevent her from blocking or fighting back) she would have wiped the floor with those wannabe samurai guards... which is what she did after the reload. I made sure to micro her from time to time so she wouldn't be too close to a wall for the duration of that fight, every time she'd get near a wall I'd force her to get back to the middle of the damn room, lol..
