Do you guys Ironman? Or save scum?
This game is pretty hard. I wonder if anyone plays it without reloading saves. I bet it would be a very fun way to experience it but also... you need to know very well what you are doing.

I had my character one shot in the head by a bored noble in the UCs, she didnt do anything wrong... insta kill.

I reloaded and decided to follow a bunch of slavers since they get a lot of action... they decided to slave me...

So yeah... things acn end abruptally.

the idea to play a true ironman would be tempting, but i usually can't resist doing quick saves and save scumming when some really bad stuff happens.

i usually do play with some "house rules" to make the progression a bit more consistent. like never strealing items of higher than "white" quality level. imo it trivializes the game too much if you just run to mongrel or worlds end and steal yellow gear - especially weapons. so i avoid that and limit myself. feels more rewarding to buy the good stuff after "earning" money trhough gameplay. or to craft the good stuff after investing the effort of getting a character to a high level crafting skill.

i tryied so hard a Ironman playtrough... even used mods to get rid of saving scumming.. doesn't work i used f5 :steamsad:
For better results, the devs should put an option for ironman mode ( i always played with 4x death chance and neko's stronger group)

You need to save sometimes but not alot because of a few bug issues, and a good example is bar men get killed and don't respawn so you have to either import or save a game ahead so you can go back to that scenario.

Saving is not scumming it's just preventing ruining your game over one little bug.

yeah but saving before you enter a shop to steal everything and reload when caught is save scumming 😂

Yes I do agree with that so I just save every once in a while to prevent having an advantage.

I always play Ironman. I feel like it encourages you to learn the game a little better and be more cautious. And the 'narrative' impact of losing a valued squadmate to even a freak accident (like getting shot in the head by friendly tech hunter guards while trying to help the Waypoint fend off a bandit raid) makes the overall story more interesting.

I never play Kenshi without some kind of RP in mind. Losing someone can suck (especially if it's a unique recruit or someone you're particularly fond of), but they can be replaced by a new recruit.

I also tend to avoid using thievery as it's quite overpowered... But when I do, if I get caught I just deal with the consequences. As long as the rest of my squad isn't nearby when I'm doing the deed, only the would-be thief is tagged with a bounty. I just run him out of town and stay away from that faction for a few days until the bounty expires.

i love going ironman in games but in kenshi... not save scumming but 2 many bugs & glitches to go full ironman...

it's possible if you have a handfull of people, but if it comes to more than 10 moving around... characters hangs here, hangs there (especially in regions like swamps), full grown mules loves it 2. sure, run back and pick it up to fix it, but sometimes you don't recognize it and someone is dying @ the end of the world and all this stupid things... atm i have my shek only run, 21 roaming sheks + 2 mules, don't ask how often i have to run back and pick someone up.

really rare but sometimes the game just crash without warning or soundbug or whatever.

i am fine with losing limbs or characters in a fight, get caught by stealing or can't find the bp or someone get enslaved or whatelse.

but this small things make me gonna go mad...

i love kenshi for what it is, but for ironman the game needs to run 99% fine, kenshi doesn't do that.

so i personally just save more than it is necessary... cause of all this small things. loading is another story. everytime i am finished with my session, i delete all saves and only keep the last 2 real named savegames. cause you never know...

The only time I reload is if something gets glitched.

If games never crashed I would never need to save. Unfortunately Utopias do not exist.

I'd love to not reload/import a game, but something always glitches (in current game Doctor Chung and Silvershade were stuck swimming under the bar, Agnu didn't spawn) so have to import/reload.

I save scum. Simply too many times where I'm building a base and a swarm of enemies spawns in just off screen, runs in, and knocks a quarter of the team out before I notice anything's going on because I'm doing something on the other side of town.
Osttruppen Sep 2, 2019 @ 10:05pm
The game is simply too buggy for ironman. One time all of my characters in a squad disappeared for no reason. One time my entire town disappeared for no reason. Buggy ♥♥♥♥♥ tend to happen for no reason.

is totally doable a ironman mode, you can save what you want, but reload only if a crash or bug problem happens, i must say i never get the game crashed anymore after i upgraded my pc, now a crash for me is very rare

I'm at ~120 days and never reloaded saves. Lost a bunch of people and limbs especially at the start but I think it is what makes this game fun for me. Never lost anyone because of a bug or anything else that wasn't my own fault.

Ironman here. I save regularly because crashes and "life" can happen at any time, but I only reload a save if a character dies to a bug.

Last time I reloaded a save was a couple months ago. One of my strongest characters got stuck in a wall (stepped backwards into it during a block animation) and was then hacked to death by a bunch of samurai. If she didn't get stuck in a wall (which seemed to prevent her from blocking or fighting back) she would have wiped the floor with those wannabe samurai guards... which is what she did after the reload. I made sure to micro her from time to time so she wouldn't be too close to a wall for the duration of that fight, every time she'd get near a wall I'd force her to get back to the middle of the damn room, lol..
