How to set up jobs?
I bought a house in Squin and wanted one character to mine copper until their inventory was full and then put it back into the copper storage I built.

Even though I set up a job to mine copper and then one that said haul it back to the storage I built in the house.

Instead the character mined until their inventory was full, then mined until the ore storage at the node was full, then just stopped and wouldn't do anything.

How do I fix this? I thought I could automate this kind of stuff?

Is the storage you built in your house specific for copper? they won't automatically take it to storage unless it is.

Also you don't need to set up a "haul" job as well, just hold shift while ordering them to mine the copper, and they should already take it to storage automatically.

When you give them a mining job, they will mine until the copper node is full, at 5 ore.

One miner assigned to the node will then take the 5 ore out of the node and automatically look for the nearest object that needs copper (within range), deliver it and then return to mining.

If there is nowhere to deliver the copper, they will not take it out of the node and will stop mining because it is full.

It could be a copper storage or it could be a crafting machine that currently needs copper to build something (but they wont take it to "general storage" containers, of any kind).

The trick is that the object must not be too far away. I don't know how big the range is that they will haul to, but it is a pretty large distance.

If they stop hauling, manually clear their inventory and they should get back to work. If they still fail to haul the ore, you probably need to move/make the object closer to the node in question.

When you want them to fill a specific container or machine, give an "auto-haul" or an "inventory" job (depending on object) to them and they will grab the items needed by the object, so long as they aren't too far away.

The problem with hauling in general, is that they will only grab so much stuff, (like 5 ore) even though they have more room in the inventory.

This is a programming limitation and Working As Intended, in order to prevent the inventory getting clogged up.

most likely your storage is too far away from the mining point. you can build a copper storage outside of buildings. try another location.
