Building walls---HELP!
Hey everyone :)

For some reason I am REALLY struggling to build a wall around my base :/ I was just wondering if its common for people to have issues with the wall building in Kenshi or if I am just missing something... This is my first attempt at base building so any tips/ tricks would be greatly appreciated :)

Ill do my best to explain my issues without sounding like a complete idiot :(
I am trying to use " Defensive Wall IV " which I believe is the best. I am not attempting to build any walls on rocky/ un-level terrain, the ground I chose is pretty damn level... there are a few hills but they arent steep at all, most of my issues occur on the flat areas anyway.

Lets say I want to build a wall, I go into build mode -> select defensive wall -> I left click to place the beginning of the wall, then from there I can drag my cursor and extend the wall... I have noticed that depending on how long/where I make the wall there seems to be two different types of wall. There is a shorter version and a taller version that more "stuff" on it.
I cant figure out why its changing between two different sizes. If I keep dragging the wall to make it longer, some sections are the "big" version and some sections are the "small" version of the wall. Why is it doing this?

I am also struggling with the height, when you place other buildings you can kinda adjust the height and angle of the building but with walls I cant? So sometimes the wall wants to dive straight into a slight hill and its annoying. Usually it helps to build tiny segments at a time, OR do the exact opposite, place long segments overshooting where you actually want to build, then just delete all the extra wall you dont want. Is this really necessary to do?

Sometimes for no apparent reason my walls like to separate and form ugly little gaps, I will have to re arrange the entire layout in order to find a way to place the wall so there isnt a gap...IDK if enemies can get through these or not, I doubt it but I still would prefer it if it looked neat :)

Sometimes if I try to make a bend in the wall it looks perfect, the game will curve the wall with no ugly gap or sharp edges then other times the game just splits the wall sections with a 90 degree angle even though I am placing the walls on level terrain...I dont get it.

I have to keep trying to build the walls in different ways over and over and I feel like this is just too ridiculous.... I have to be doing something very wrong.
Does the ground need to be PERFECTLY flat or something? I mean, I havent even seen anywhere in the map with perfectly level terrain... A lot of the issues I am having are on the flattest parts of my base anyway! Screenshots I have seen of other bases have the same terrain as I have so IDK. My base location is in the border zone, kinda by the Hub and Squin.

If youre still reading, THANK YOU! Thank you so much. I really appreciate the help.
A big shout out to the mods of this discussion board too, they are extremely active and helpful.
The entire community rocks my socks honestly. Add me!!

Thanks again XOXOXO

EDIT++ Tried some walls with the Defensive Wall 3 and its a lot easier.

the "bigger" wall section allows you to put mounted harpoons while the smaller ones do not.

OHHHHHH!!! Thank you!
Well, is there a pro/con for building the entire wall "bigger"?
Does it cost more materials or something?

your question is long, i need more time to read it.
use the + and - keys to adjust wall height. You need suitable height to build ram. Ram can only be built on the bigger section.
Close the gate, and right click outside with someone selected. If they can go out, enemies can go in.

Annoying part is that after all your struggling and tweaking, even if your walls are laid down perfectly, they will still fail you.

I regularly have enemies just walk straight through my walls (bypassing the gate entirely) and go mangle my workers, even if there are no visible gaps or holes.
