I came accross some pack animals and a bone dog that i now own, how on earth do you feed them ?

I popped some dried meat in the animnal feeder but nothing wants it.

Any ideas ??

Cooked Meat, Raw meat or Foul Meat.

Put in feeder or any animal backpack or fellow squad backpack. You can also throw food on ground in front of them.

That should sort them out ;o)

if you have someone wearing a backpack put your food items in the pack and ensure all the animals are in the same squad as this person. They should then eat the food.

ahh cool, did not think of tossing it on the ground. do tossed items have a decay timer attached ?

do they ear dead animals? wild bonedogs eat corpses of river rpators, does that work with owned ones?

They also eat out of the Food Storage container. Found out the hard way when my Garru packbeasts decided to chow down. If you plan on staying in base for a while, build a pen complete with gate.

I hope we get some nice looking fences for this, it feels always a bit overkill to make these walls for penning in livestock.

If you feel like it you can run one of the building mods Ive seen a few with fences. Also I do not believe your beasts will eat from corpses

The satisfaction of starving the fat bas****s to death was well worth the cost of mats. I turned the meat into wraps and deliberately left it for the four-woman deathsquad Im working on.
Losing my starter put me in a foul mood and the Garru's garbuerator imitation did not amuse me.

While this is true -- it will eventually 'work' to feed them -- but the animal's AI script is slow and does not always 'recognize' that food is there, in other words it is unreliable and makes the player nervous when their animal is starving. [my experience during first time play thru...]

Food in a squad member's backpack (4 or 2 legged will not matter) is the way to go.

just put the food into their inventory or their pack if they have one.
it will -continuously - disappear trust me .
