Shadows and Terrain Detail
What do you guys normally play on?
I would love to have shadows on but it just kills performance.

I keep terrain detail under halfway, otherwise it also starts impacting performance.

I decided, as I have had this game installed for quite some time, to uninstall/reinstall and start a new game. Now performance is much better, even with good Terrain detail and Shadows!
Wow!

I get ~20 to ~30fps with RTWSM shadows range 3000, terrain detail 0.3, view distance 3900, object range 5000, npc range 3500, medium texture quality, water refection landscape only, no vsync, no FXAA.

I core 2 quad q9300 2.9GHz, 8GB
HD7850 2GB

My main issue with shadows is that RTWSM looks better (sharper) and gives me much better performance than CSM (quality 1024), but often cause ugly shadow artifacts on terrain.

The shadows need some work. I get all kinds of shadow flickering from rtwsm from various objects on the terrain.

I cant play Kenshi without shadows after playing with them. The game looks so much better with them on.

Yeah the shadows do get a bit wonky after a certain period of playing. A quick save and quick load fixes it. I too can't go back :D

What would be nice is a deafult settings for the graphics options. I've fiddled with mine so much I can't remember what goes where originally. As a result, I'm not sure if I'm getting better or worse FPS. If anyone's got a screenshot of that, it'd be nice.

You could try clearing (as in zeroing out) or erasing "YourSteamDirectory\steamapps\common\Kenshi\settings.cfg".

However I am not responsible for any sort of mayhem that would cause... :P
Should not be anything that verifying game files would not fix...

My settings vary greatly from update to update and generally get turned up the further a particular version is tweaked. These are current settings
