Leviathan Hunting
Hatsune, the badass she is, managed a solo takedown on a Leviathan Pup. I'd never tried before, and gave it a shot.

She used the Skeleton Smith Katana III with 1.32 Cut Damage and 1.20 Bleed.
Wearing High Grade Armored Hood, and all her other gear is Specialist Grade. Assassin Rags, Blackened Chainmail and Samurai Clothpants with Wooden Sandals.

Her Stats are

50 Katana Skill (It was 44 at the start)
46 Melee Attack
34 Melee Defense

I know it was just a Pup, but wow, that was awesome. She was hit 6 times by the pup, it nearly always hit her in the chest, but did only moderate damage. 1 hit to the left arm and 1 hit to the left leg.

The pup was dropped by damage to the head and is KO for 9,411 seconds, which is just about 156 Minutes, OVER 2 AND A HALF HOURS. (Hey, I get to be excited here)

Damage was mostly to the head, right arm and chest, although other areas were hit (a lot) as well. Hatsune did 63 damage per hit.

I now have my first ever Leviathan Pearl, which is worth 12000 and weighs 10 Kg.

I'll try a Teen and see how hard they are.

You are a monster worse than the Holy Nation and the Cannibals combined

Teen Leviathan went down just as easily, if not easier.

Hit twice, 1 chest, 1 left leg.

KO for 11,230 Seconds.

Hatsune now has two Pearls.

GET AN ADULT.

Bah! This is a competition now? Of all the times for me to build a new PC and start from stratch!

I killed leviathans before people thought it was possible ^_^

I had a leviathan farm, it was fun for a while. What is funny is if you have a squad member shift clicked on forage and corpse disposal, they will loot the critter and pick it up and put it in the furnace. Quite the sight to see.

I have an outpost dedicated to this purpose. whenever one of my soldiers annoys me enough I just send them up there. they can buy their way back with a pearl. economical? hardly. even remotely practical? not in the least. an excuse to be a menecing, pitiless warlord? yep.

Ha! That's awesome. "Damnit, Brayden, you've looted the hash supply for the last time! I'm assignin' ya to the Northern Outpost. Come back wit a pearl or don't come back!"

What's your favorite Leviathan kill or best takedown story?

Hmmm. I tried to solo a leviathon and died in like two hits.

Guess I need to try again.

They have rebalanced the leviathans stats several times.
In alpha, I have killed them before, but at other times I have had skilled people instant killed by one good stomp.
In beta, I have only tried twice to go after them.
In both cases I was talking too much damage and broke off the attack.

Does the game currently allow multiple people to attack a lone leviathan all at once or does it limit it to "1 to 1" fighting like it does for when people fight?

i tried once attacking with my whole squad but then the leviathans use a devastating AoE attack so i guess its better to attack alone?

MUCH better to attack alone, anyone extra nearby will needlessly take damage and slow down the fight, which is NOT something you want. Have backup nearby in PASSIVE mode ( I have 2 spare fighters and a medic, but don't stand together as a group.) The Leviathan will only fight the people who were ordered to attack it. By doing this, if your fighter gets wounded and you want to break off, swap in a second fighter FIRST from a different direction than the current fighter, once the Leviathan attacks that person, have the first withdraw FROM THE SIDE OR REAR. (If still standing)

DO NOT 1 v 1 disengage or run directly away from one, EVER. They will attack you and land 3 or 4 hits before you're out of range AND before they even have to move to chase you. They're VERY slow, only run at 9 MPH for adults and 6 for pups, but if you're wounded that can still be insurmountable, and despite their low speed, they are very agile and can turn very quickly to hit a target from the side. Adult Leviathans do 50 to 80 damage PER HIT if they land a good one, even with Masterwork Samurai Armor (full set) and Black Chainmail. Thankfully their attack can be blocked or dodged.

I've noticed that Beak Things and Leviathans also have a strange attack (no animation, and no way to block it, just instant damage) when you approach or retreat from the front. It's instant, rapid, and does a lot of damage, so be careful and flank in from the rear or sides whenever possible to avoid this. (Doesn't happen MOST OF THE TIME if they approach you, though sometimes Beak Things still do it and it's more of a threat to me than their regular attack, it's annoying because it can stagger you and set you up for a beak drop you'd normally counter.)

FITE ME 1 V 1 Me IRL M8!

They're one on one like everything else these days, but their AOE attack means business, so keep bystanders well back, that cone covers a BIG area and does big damage.

The pups and teens are VERY much easier to kill than the Adults and deal less damage, so I advise killing off a lone pup or two to learn HOW to fight them, and then try an adult, but be warned. The pup does like 10 to 15 damage per attack, the Adult does 50 to 80, and their attacks can be pretty rapid. I advise skill in the High 30's to low 40's before attacking a pup. (Melee Attack and Defense, Katana or Polearms in the 30s as well) Oh yeah, SO FAR, Heavy Weapons are a bad idea. (At least for my party) they are so slow that the Leviathan always goes first and it's hard for the heavy weapon guy to block effectively. This was using Crumblejon, who has 65 Str and a plank.

Yep. pretty much do as above, with a stand-by squad to replace the poor bloke who has to 1v1 a city sized monster. if possible, create a sort of killing ground with turrets to needle the majestic creature to death while your littlt duelists attempt to poke at it with their sharp splinter of a weapon. The best case for a 1v1 would be some heavily armored bugger with fairly high skills. I wouldn't know though. all of my guys are "reassigned personel" whose skills rank them as fodder.

I don't use turrets, I just run up and hit them with sword or fists.

I should note, that the pups and teens are manageable easily with skills in the mid 30's. Fight a few and survive, and your skills are pretty rapidly in the 50's.

perhaps. but as fodder I mean, more often than not, in the mere 10s-15s, sometimes in the 20s. I'm not so much after the pearl as punishing them. the turrets are there for motivational support.
