Good Base Locations?
Yeah so I grew tired of my safe outpost in holy nation land (I also began pillaging their farms so we're not exactly on good terms) and would like to relocate.

Anyone have any ideas for good locations that have a relatively good amount of stone, iron and copper? Down southward is perferred since I haven't done much exploring in that area.

Anyways, thanks for any help!

I just started to play after a few years pause and just wanted to ask, do you guys always build several outposts when the game progress and move on to a more hostile surroundings when your squad gets bigger and better? Thanks.

I started building close by to one of the Holy Nation Military Bases (temp) but the land is on a somehwhat uneven plataeu. Been finding it difficult to locate large flat land area that has stone and iron let alone with the hopes it also has decent copper and fertile enough land. If I find a good location (pref outside of Holy territory) I'll post a screenshot.

I made my base directly down of Waystation. A lot of iron and copper easily and fertility at 100%. Area is pretty flat small downwards slope but pretty flat at points. Pretty quiet area so if you are looking for something more rowdy might want to look elsewhere.

Every time I see someone say WAYSTATION from now on I will ask.

WHICH ONE?

There are 3 Waystations in the current map. (And likely more to come)

One near Hub (South of it) one East of that, which is near Tiny Settlement, and one way the hell down on the south of the map.

Please ID which waystation you're talking about when referencing that you built near it.

That's a nice base by the way.

Waystation isn't even a town. It's basically the Kenshi equivalent of a truck stop or a travelers rest. I suspect we'll have 8 waystations when the entire map is completed.

No idea where you are talking about, but this looks close to where I built my base. South of the Waystation south of Squinn, in the flatlands near the swamp.

30% water, 100% stone, iron and copper and like 50% fertility. Get's attacked by Berserkers, Khal's Chosen, Bone Dogs, and rarely Skin Spiders, but otherwise is a very safe base location.

That is a good area. There is flat land you can see on the map next to the tiny outpost to put a base. I chose there my first game, then i went south. On the far left SW of the map there is another waystation, just below the outpost is a small lake with a lot of flat land slavers everywhere. Im going after the slavers now pissed them off to a point we are enemies. The South part of the map is dangerous getting my people through the swamp was the hardest thing ever. Avoid the swamp if you can the spiders they are very OP and dont stay dead long.

The swamp spiders aren't too bad. They run at a fairly average speed and tend to go down in one hit, albeit doing a heck of a lot of damage per attack themselves. It's the skin spiders in the area's to the west of the swamp that annihilate whole squads solo and sometimes swarm you in numbers of like 5-8. Their health is fairly low, comparable to a bone dog, but they one-shot my characters whose stats are in the high 60's, often knocking them out with around -80 health in a critical part... Oh and then they eat them and you can't run from them without an athletics score of around 60. They also have a nasty habit of showing up when I'm currently fighting Berserkers or Khal's Chosen.

So yeah, if I needed to get to the southern continent... I'd go through the swamp and stay the heck out of the hills and desert to the west.

I built down there too, except in a spot with 10% water. After a while, I built a smaller base a bit closer to that waystation to produce water.

Nearly constant wind power. Close enough to quickly go to the swamps to hunt turtles. That waystation and Squin are close for when you're first getting setup and need more supplies.

I seem to get a lot of people shopping, but I think they've run out of money or something. Now they're just loitering and periodically saying "I can't afford that".

I've had a few run ins with some of those shek groups, but mostly peaceful. It's kind of a perfect area for base building.

Devs will probably make it rain fire in the next update. Can't have nice things in kenshi.

Yeah I keep forgetting the other waystations since they are kind of in a location where you never visit them and I do not travel too much. Its the way station near Squinn

Its directly down the hills from waystation I can almost order people to walk into the waystation from my base to trade. Only once I have been attacked by Kral's Chosen I suspect that they do not attack you unless they notice a shek with you or something, they just scoff at me and keep on walking.

Seems that most of the stuff either walks right past the location but on ocassion berserker or hungry bandits try to stay away from waystation and go past it east side through the mountains where my base is located and they caused trouble until I built the wall no they just go around it most of the time it seems

That's a good spot.
Red Bat Mar 8, 2017 @ 1:08pm
There 's a few spots in the Hook that are very ideal base locations. You get traders all the time. Nothing attacks you other than poorly equipped outlaws, high fertility and good iron and copper. The only issue I had was low wind speed but that's absurdly easy to work around.

I might try looking for good base locations in some rough areas like the Cannibal Plains, Vain, Dreg, and the Shrieking Forest. Just to see if I can setup a functional and defendable base with a low stat skeleton party..

See if rebuilding the Nav Mesh works to fix it, that usually does the trick for me.

Control Shift and F11 will rebuild it, and that may fix the issue.
