You need to have a Well, and Water Storage.
AUTO HAUL to the Water Tank, then AUTO HAUL to the fields.
Simple is best, I just take 6 Water barrels to the field. Dump one out so it gets water, and then stack the other 5 in the inventory. Check back that day to see water use. Once water rate is known, then check every day or two as needed to top off the water, or don't worry about it until harvest time.
They should go straight to a well or water tower to get the water.
It's probably a glitch to the path finding, production logic or maybe the water is too far away?
I would try rebuilding the Navmesh just to be sure.
I select one of my laborers and then shift + right click on the well and then the same with the water tank. The following que happens:
1. Operating automatic machine: Well III
2. Hauling to: Well III
3. Hauling to: Water Tank
I tried this for just one of the wells and then did the same for both wells as a chain to keep him busy but he doesn't do anything. I even tried just Hauling to: Water Tank assuming he would grab the water from each well and place it in the water tank right next to them. Nothing.
With that being said, this stops me from then trying to start a full production chain of:
1. Taking water from well
2. Placing water into water tank
3. Taking water from water tank
4. Placing water in each wheat crop
5. Rinse and repeat
I now just manually place 6 barrels in each wheat field and check back every couple days. If anyone knows if this can be automated, please list the steps you have done that was successful. Thanks!
don't set to haul to water tank, then farming as the guy will grab water for a farm, realize he's carrying water and haul it to the tank as that's higher priority then farming.
Farming needs to be first or number one. If you have someone also hauling water, then that must be number 2 job or he may take the water somewhere else and not your fields.
i have 3 people doing farms, where one of them have top prio to always keep farms watered.
1. farming have a clear personal inventory.
2. If manual well set it Auto first then Crops.
3. Have all farmers water all the fields areas there going to tend
4. Make sure all your wells have water maybe well cann't keep with demands.
5. If making bread it take alot water.
