farms/number of crops per person?
Anyone ever worked out this sort of thing? Ive got 42 biological squad members who need to eat. Lets say I want them to eat only foodcubes, how many wheat and greenfruit farms should I build?

i see is that my 5 wheat farms is more than needed, not to mention about my 12 fruit farms :D

4 and 4 should be ok at least if you have all 4 workers on all farms

Ive got 6 hydro wheat, 2 biggest cactus, 4 hydrorice, and 4 hydrofruit, It seems to be enough now, but I just wanted to see if someone had worked it out better, or in more detail.

I suppose it's possible to do the math, since we have the nutrition value, the number of plant per crop, and the resources needed per food.

But I let someone else do it :D

I know it takes 6 people to feed my army of 30 with powered wells about 8 Wheat fields in my current base.

Taking in Green Fruit and cooking I say about 4-6 fields 4-6 Wheat. Bread fuel my guys. Take 1 Person on my hemp farm to make bio fuel and farm for cloth.

well it takes atleast 5 cactii to make 1 chew stick. and there are around 64 cactii produced in one large field. whats atleast enough chew stick for 12 people.

its not that hard to work out really.

and it takes about 10? wheat to make one bag of flour. so each large field producing 64 units of wheat when farmed by a skilled farmer(ie no fails in the harvest and good fertility an such).

thats 1 for 6 people. thats not including the water required.

it also depends on the hunger rate.

currently i have 9 Cactii farms, and 5 Wheat fields(XL cactii, and L Wheat). for 30 people . mostly producing just chew sticks since theres not enough bread being produced to live purely on dustwhiches though given the description of the dust which thatmight be a good thing...

i'm in the desert so out side of hunting for meat thats the only things overly available.

it mostly depends on what you are turning the raw ingredients into but at minimum

each field should support 2-6 people depending on size. though you generally need a slight excess of production since the game doesn't priortize the hungry to get food first. so those nearest to the food will get it while those farthest away tend to starve. which i dislike but ...people seem content with it that way.

- also

you don't really need 4 people working each field.

one or two people are enough to harvest most fields before they expire after being ready since you have about 3 game days for the full harvest .

Farming seems like such a hassle, which is why I just buy the food I require and stockpile it due to my obsession to always having a supply on hand.

Of course the downside to relying on buying is that it requires people willing to trade with you, can be an issue if one were to decide on say going to war with the Holy Nation and the United Cities/Traders Guild over issues such as slavery due to it personally affecting members of your crew.
Self-sufficiency is certainly a boon in those circumstances.

Eh, ill probably just figure out what building has the most space, and make one for each hydro crop, then only food id be missing would be cactus, which is easy enough to grow, since most of the map is arid. My current setup is i have one skeleton for each crop, so one tends all the wheat hydros, one tends all the rice hydro, so on.

Actually it's the easiest of all the crafting. You can fully automate the entire process, from farming to food production and even consumption, and it will work on its own without you even checking it. Technically speaking, you can have a fully self sufficient outpost that will survive on its own forever, unless external distrubance like a raid.
