New to online gaming. Can anyone describe how i can get sound from me and other players in online matche? i guss its the telephone top left of screen but dont know how to push it. Im using a game pad and have a mic on my web cam. Is this all i need? worms is no good inless you can chat in game. thanks

Dude, you just push and hold Left Control and talk, you can also rebind this key to whatever key you want, I'm sure it works with gamepad too. Also, you can go to the sound options, there's a button called "Push to talk" (or some name like that), you can disable that and mics will be always on (I at least think that will happen, never have used that). That's.. all. And that telephone button is for the chat window, press ~ (tilda) to open it and press again to close.

Many games do it I don't get it either I just rebound my key to something more enjoyable like X though.

On a UK PC the chat window shows as bound to the ` key (where the ~ key is on a US keyboard I believe), but that doesn't actually work in game. The tradition of binding chat to the US ~ key is a pain because the ~ key on non-US keyboards is often elsewhere and the alternative doesn't work. Best to redefine this key if you are having issues (esp. on non US keyboard). Since T17 is British I would expect they wouldn't set an iffy defult for non-US keyboards, but they always do.

As for voice chat, make sure that under Steam Settings/Voice tab you have your webcam selected as the input device. Make sure it is the default device in Windows sound settings too. If you have Win7 or 8, make sure you set the Communications tab in the sound settings to 'Do Nothing'. Then just use the press to talk option in Worms (only turn that off if you have a headset or the background noise will annoy all) to talk like a CB radio.
