Is there gonna be an active community for this game?

I previously picked up the Switch copy, and ended up getting my heart broken over how lacking the playerbase was and how mind-bogglingly incomprehensible the AI players were. Is the PC version gonna be any better, or should I continue to mourn the idealized version of the game that never actually existed?

Probably not, if it failed to gain a community on Switch (I own that version but not a currently active membership, so I never played it online). Simple case of too many games competing for the same player pool, and if this does launch at $50, its going to turn away most would-be buyers at launch.

I know I'm waiting for a significant sale before triple-dipping for this version.

There is a Dokapon discord server with a couple thousand members that has a bunch of games going for both Connect and the original Wii release. There are links to it on the Dokapon subreddit and wiki page for the game.
