That doesn't make sense.
Obviously, one's ranking could change as more people play, but it's a daily challenge and there is only a fairly small window of time where it makes any sense to tell users "you're in the top XX %"
That window starts when you finish playing the challenges and lasts until the reset at the end of the day. After that, there will be a different set of challenges and results.
Im usually in top 10-20% of players or higher and none of my scores is in the top 50% of players has been recognized in the daily top 50% in the challenges and Im almost done like missing 14 days or something.
Extremely frustrating and I have been checking my scores on a daily basis but I'm glad its not only me having this issue.
edit: Ive even rentered the game right after and one of those top 800% then showed up as I was in top 5% and still didnt count so clearly something is wrong.
Maybe I'm seeing something different.
When I play the challenges, the ranking only makes sense if I log out and back in. Then it's fine.
I'm thinking maybe the local copy of the information gets corrupted when you play a challenge. When you first start, it downloads the current ranking and it looks right. Play a game and it gets messed up again.
Been a while since ive bothered playing the game due to the issue but yes when you make a score it shows up like in the 800% but if you leave the game and reenters it shows as it should first time but still doesnt counts so what you are saying seems plausible from my limted technical view.
Either way Zen Studios really f'ed up this time around as this issue really should have been sorted out roughly a month a go as I've already made them aware of it long time ago so personally I'm starting to get really irritated that nothing apparently is done to fix it.
Now that I've figured out what's actually going on, I view it as a minor glitch that doesn't have any actual impact on things. Your ultimate ranking is calculated correctly and you get credited properly for the mastery stuff. The only real issue is that the display is messed up part of the time.
That is an entirely separate thing from the display issue.
I agree that it appears t here is some problem with that particular mastery. I have been stuck on "2/3" complete for a while even when I've had several runs of more than 3 days in a row in the top 50%. During that time, I have advanced in the other categories as expected, so it seems to be just the one that isn't working correctly.
I have also progressed from level 15 when I first noticed this, to level 18 now, so yes, the XP seems to be working okay.
Any sort of modern software project is going to have a long list of things that need attention. This could include fixing bugs, making changes to the UI, and a lot of things that aren't really "bugs" such as adjusting sound volume levels.
All of these issues get prioritized and the highest priority items will usually be things that stop people from being able to play. The lowest priority will be glitches and things like the "Endless Challenge" not working right.
In most cases, even the lowest priority items will slowly move up the list as time passes without a fix. This ensures things don't get "lost" because nobody was paying attention.
You also have to keep in mind that with a problem like this one, it may be a bug in the client that users run locally, and some problems may be in the server side of things. Some problems may be spread out between both places.
Even when they do find the source of a problem, the fix may not be obvious, and when they do figure out a fix, it has to be tested to make sure the fix didn't break something else. There is most likely a minimum of at least a few months of time involved in this whole cycle, even in the best case scenario.
Another thing to consider is that the developers almost always have to be able to duplicate the issue before they have a chance to fix it. This means that a precise, detailed bug report is usually essential. However, bug reports from users vary WIDELY in quality and detail. Many times they are completely useless, or nearly so, in identifying the problem.
I don't know how much, if any, of that applies here. I don't know what reports others have made, or when. All I can go on is that I first noticed the problem with the "Endless Challenge" a few weeks back. I made a bug report in the "bug report" section of the Steam forums. For the sake of argument, let's say I was the first user to report it and provide the right sort of detail required for them to identify and replicate the issue on their end. I would still expect a fix no sooner than 3 r 4 months later, say July or August.
That is merely my estimate. I could be wrong. Zen could already have a fix undergoing testing, and it could come out this week. We just have to wait and see.
It's not an entirely separate thing. You do the challenge, it tells you you are in top 600% and sure, restarting the game "fixes" the visual issue, but it still doesn't count for the mastery. Make the mastery impossible to complete, makes the achievement impossible to get.
