Nudging

I'm a bit confused about how nudging works. If I move the analog stick to the right, will the table and therefore the ball move to the right?

You're not wrong, but you're not exactly right either. Think of nudging as slapping the table in the direction you nudge. So if you nudge left while the ball is up against a wall on it's right, the right wall will hit the ball and send it flying to the left. The direction the ball goes is dependent on where the table impacts the ball. It's possible to nudge and send the ball flying in an unforeseen direction if the table hit's it just right.

Without nudging the new Zen tables are really "hard" ... you really want to nudge on them, at least more offen than on older FX3 releases. :)

The nudge strength is really weak on this and the latest PFX. I wish they'd up it a bit to make death saves actually work. I'd also like to assign it to the d-pad, but I'm not sure if you can or not.

I don't know the exact rules myself, but I do know there is/can be a penalty for overusing the nudge, so keep that in mind!

Yeah I can't get a single death save in M or FX, I really miss doing it in FX3.

As for switching the nudge control, you can go into steam, controller settings, edit layout, and make the dpad behavior Joystick.

Yeah, it seems like it's really table dependent. For instance, I can get a death save on the X-men table from the right outline about a third of the time. I've got a couple on the Homeworld table too, but for the most part they are much harder than before. I also wish they would up the nudge strength by 15%-20%.

nudging is moving the table into the ball to nudge the ball away from a potential ball draining event. Pinball FX has the worst nudging as the virtual tilt bob is way too sensitive and giving a Danger for just rocking side to side is an incorrect implementation. Since virtual pinball is not 1:1 to a real table it needs to be more liberal in the movements to make up for the fact that you cant slap save or rock back and forth to walk a ball out. It honestly should be analogue so that you can vary the movements.
