Much like PFX I don't think there's enough scalability to the in-game settings, I'm very reliant upon writing custom configs to achieve my performance targets and frame time consistency.
I should add that I use my Steam Deck almost exclusively docked on my TV. So I was running the game at 1080. Even with my TV set to "game mode" as they suggested the lag was still too much for the game to be enjoyable.
I just grabbed this on my break at work, and it runs like a dream right out of the box. No lag whatsoever. UdderJuice probably needs to fiddle with VSYNC and/or get a monitor with a higher refresh rate, those kinds of problems are usually tied to those issues. So far I'm having a blast on my Deck with no configuration needed whatsoever. Left and right flippers are L and R triggers. It's all totally logical. I'll probably remap the tilt function from being the left analog stick to the right one just as a personal preference though.
Resolution scale at 80.
I play at 60 with almost all graphics at medium settings and very good visual fidelity.
Tdp at 13-15, GPU 1600.
Just play with the settings until you are happy: i'd say with some work it is very nice but definitely eats battery pretty fast if you want it at 60.
Then again, I also played the demo for this game for hours on my Steam Deck and didn't have any issues there either.
You've probably got a custom setting that's limiting it to 40. Mine does a solid 60.
Steam Deck does weird stuff like that, maybe they snuck in some mini-patch or something. Glad it's fine now though!
Yeah, it's a blast so far, I'm getting pretty consistent 60FPS with only a few moments of frame dips to 55 for a split second which has never impacted my ability to play. I got top 4% in dailies yesterday just from using my Steam Deck, so clearly it's functioning well :)
